All Quiet On The Western Front. 2022 (German), Starring

Netflix, December 2, 2022, with Dr. Connie Luther. Soundtrack: "

Music by

Volker Bertelmann

Anachronisms:

By the end, Germany delegation to Rethondes is seen indignant as the terms and conditions of armistice are quoted by Mathias Erzberger, namely forfeiting submarines, planes, weapons and so on ; what is read there was not in the November, 11 of 1918 capitulation act but was imposed upon Germany next year in Versailles Treaty.
Many of the tree trunks used in the construction of the trenches show marks left by the feed rollers of a single grip forest harvester - a piece of forestry machinery not introduced until the 1980s. This is particularly visible when Baumer is collecting the ID tags of fallen soldiers.
Katczinsky is seen in the beginning of the film holding a M16 Stahlhelm with camouflage paint, which was part of German Army Order II, No 91 366 in 1918.

The St. Chamond tanks have wrong road wheels, obviously belonging to more modern, WWII era tanks.

Anachronism:

At 36:33, an elderly couple of Chinese are speaking standard Mandarin in a restaurant presumably in Harlem. However, Mandarin speakers would have been extremely rare in New York or anywhere else beyond Northern China at that time and for several decades afterwards. Any Chinese in New York and the rest of the States and Europe would have been speaking Cantonese, Hokkien, or some other Southern Chinese dialect, with the exception of the wealthier Shanghainese, who had their own dialect until very recently.

Operation Mincemeat. 2021 (British), Starring

In addition, other notable historical figures are briefly included in the film, with Alexander Beyer as Karl Kuhlenthal, Nico Birnbaum as Colonel Alexis von Roenne and Pep Tosar as Admiral Moreno

Anachronisms

Huelva was no longer a small fishing town as described in the film. Since XIX century it was an important mining harbour, with the Rio Tinto and other large mining companies operating there. 50% of world production of pyrite came from Huelva. Hence the British and German activity in the area.

In 1943 the SPAM can had a different label, not in color, but monochrome. It is referred as the WWII Emergency Label.

Avatar: The Way Of Water. 2022, Starring

  • Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, a former human who fell in love with Neytiri and befriended the Na'vi after becoming a member of the Avatar Program, eventually taking their side in their conflict with humans and leading them to victory. He left his human body to permanently become one of the Na'vi and is now chief of the Omaticaya.[11][12]
  • Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, daughter of the previous clan chief, future Tsahìk of the clan, and Jake's mate[11][12]
  • Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Jake and Neytiri's adopted teenage daughter.[13] Weaver originally appeared in the first film as Dr. Grace Augustine. Although both Weaver and Cameron confirmed that she would return in the sequels, she stated in 2014 that she would not play the same character.[6][14][15] Like most of the cast, she learned free-diving for the film and filmed scenes underwater.[16]
    • Weaver also reprises her role as Dr. Grace Augustine, a human scientist who takes the side of the Na'vi and dies during the conflict. Her Na'vi avatar is revealed to have birthed Kiri despite her death. She appears in this film in a video recording and in a spiritual vision where she meets with Kiri.
  • Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, a human who led the security forces of the RDA, the human organization colonizing Pandora, in their conflict with the Na'vi.[17] After being killed by Neytiri in the first film, he has been resurrected as a Recombinant, described as "avatars embedded with the memories of human[s]",[17] and seeks revenge. Cameron stated in 2010 that Lang would return in the first three sequels, stating, "I'm not going to say exactly how we're bringing him back, but it's a science fiction story, after all. His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga."[18][19] He later stated that Quaritch would act as the main antagonist once again, in all four sequels.[20][21] Lang also plays Quaritch in a recording made to fill his Recombinant in on what happened.
  • Kate Winslet as Ronal, a free diver of the Metkayina and Tonowari's wife, who is pregnant.[22][23] Winslet called Ronal "a pivotal character in the ongoing story" but also "relatively small comparative to the lengthy shoot" since shooting all her scenes only took a month.[24] It marks her first time working with performance capture, and motion capture altogether. She, like most of the cast, also had to learn free diving for the film; while filming an underwater scene, she held her breath for over seven minutes, a new record for any film scene shot underwater.[24][25][26][16]
  • Cliff Curtis as Tonowari, the chief of the reef people clan of Metkayina and Ronal's husband.[27][28][29]
  • Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman, a former member of the Avatar Program who chose to side with the Na'vi in the first film.[30]
  • CCH Pounder as Mo'at, the Omaticaya's Tsahìk, and Neytiri's mother.[31][32]
  • Edie Falco as General Frances Ardmore, the commander in charge of the RDA's interests.[33]
  • Brendan Cowell as Captain Mick Scoresby, the head of a private sector marine hunting vessel on the planet of Pandora.[34]
  • Jemaine Clement as Dr. Ian Garvin, a marine biologist.[35]
  • James Flatters as Neteyam, Jake and Neytiri's first son and oldest child[36][37]
  • Britain Dalton as Lo'ak, Jake and Neytiri's second son[36][37]
    • Chloe Coleman as young Lo'ak
  • Trinity Jo-Li Bliss as Tuktirey ("Tuk"), Jake and Neytiri's eight-year-old daughter and their youngest child[36][37][38]
  • Jack Champion as Miles Socorro ("Spider"), the teenaged son of Quaritch born in Hell's Gate (the human base on Pandora in the first film) who was rescued and adopted by Jake and Neytiri and "prefers his time in the Pandoran rainforest".[36][37][39]
  • Bailey Bass as Tsireya ("Reya"), a graceful and strong free diver of the Metkayina and Tonowari and Ronal's daughter[36][37]
  • Filip Geljo as Aonung, a young male hunter and free diver of the Metkayina and Tonowari and Ronal's son[36][37]
  • Duane Evans, Jr. as Rotxo, a young male hunter and free-diver of the Metkayina.[36][37]
  • Giovanni Ribisi as Parker Selfridge, the former corporate administrator for the RDA mining operation.[40]
  • Dileep Rao as Dr. Max Patel, a scientist who worked in the Avatar Program and came to support Jake's rebellion against the RDA in the first film.[41]
  • Matt Gerald as Corporal Lyle Wainfleet, a mercenary for the RDA in their war against the Na'vi who was previously killed by a hammerhead titanothere and was revived as a Recombinant. Gerald was announced to reprise his role in August 2017.[29]

Additionally, Alicia Vela-Bailey appears, uncredited, as Zdinarsk, a Recombinant and member of the 1st Recom Squadron. Vela-Baily previously portrayed Ikeyni, the leader of the Na'Vi Ikran Clan, in the original Avatar. She is also featured as a stunt performer in both films.[42][43] CJ Jones appears, also uncredited, as an unnamed Metkayina interpreter.

Anachronisms:

When Chamberlain's plane takes off, the very distinctive outline of the Battersea Power Station is visible in the background, with its four chimneys. However, in 1939, when the film is set, only Battersea A was fully built, Battersea B being not yet complete, so the building at that time only had two chimneys.
The facade of the Führerbau in Munich shows very evident signs of wear and discoloration from decades of weather (actual state at the time of filming), although historically, the building had been completed only the year before (1937).
There were no gates at the start of Downing Street before Margaret Thatcher.
The liason aircraft used in the movie to transport Chamberlain is not period correct, probably to keep the budget under control. Its a Beech D18 (Twin Beech). It didn't exist in 1938/39.

The Forgotten Battle. 2020 (Netherlands), Starring

Netflix, December 29, 2022, with Dr. Connie Luther. Soundtrack: "

Anachronisms:

The opening Normandy Invasion graphics (June 6, 1944) show the modern Canadian flag, which was not adopted until Feb16, 1965. Prior to this date Canada used the Canadian Red Ensign.
A high altitude modern jet airline contrail is visible in the sky.
In the opening scene, there are metal poles on the sidewalk. They are to prevent cars from parking on the sidewalk. That problem did not exist in WW2 time.
The Allied soldiers are using the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield Mark III rifle. At this stage of the war, they should be using the Mark 4.
When Marinus walks down to the basement following the screams, a modern fire alert button can be seen in the background, around head height on a door frame, which remains recognizable despite the blurred background.
When the Canadians cross the dam at the Sloe, they attack the Germans from East to West. The scene shows a rising Sun in the South, while it should be behind them.
When the Canadian soldiers are crossing the dam, they are attacked. In the very beginning of the attack you see a single contrail from an aircraft for several seconds. It seems to be at great hight. The WWII aircraft also made contrails, but you never saw a single one by itself, they flew only in great formations. Therefore it must be a modern aircraft.
High altitude jet contrails can be seen in at least two instances during the battle on Walcheren Dyke.

The animated battle/front line map depicted near the beginning of the film shows Canadian military units depicted with a red and white maple leaf flag. This flag did not become Canada's flag until 1965. In 1944 the Canadian flag was the red ensign (a mostly red flag with the Union Jack in one corner and a Coat of Arms).

Anachronisms:

Al comes up with "Another one Rides the Bus" at a party. John Deacon, hearing the song, invites him to join Queen at Live Aid "next week", which would make the year 1985. The Song was written in 1980, and on his debut album from 1983.
Al asks the record executives "Did I stutter?" during a 1984 discussion about his song "Eat It". But this phrase originated in the 1985 film The Breakfast Club and didn't enter common usage until the 1990s.

A scene set in the 80's refers to "Miami-Dade County" in FL; however this county was named just plain "Dade County" up until 1997.
