Weatherly) and Haydn Wood, Performed by John McCormack, Courtesy of RCA Records, By arrangement with Sony Music Licensing; "Blue Bonnets over the Border" - Traditional. Trivia: 1. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg, and is an adaptation of British author Michael Morpurgo's 1982 children's novel of the same name set before and during World War I. 2. Michael Morpurgo wrote the 1982 children's novel War Horse after meeting World War I veterans in the Devon village of Iddesleigh where he lived. One had been with the Devon Yeomanry and was involved with horses; another veteran in his village, Captain Budgett, was with the cavalry and told Morpurgo how he had confided all his hopes and fears to his horse. Both told him of the horrific conditions and loss of life, human and animal, during the Great War. A third man remembered the army coming to the village to buy horses for the war effort: horses were used for cavalry and as draught animals, pulling guns, ambulances and other vehicles. Morpurgo researched the subject further and learned that a million horses died on the British side; he extrapolated an overall figure of 10 million horse deaths on all sides. Of the million horses that were sent abroad from the UK, only 62,000 returned, the rest dying in the war or slaughtered in France for meat. The Great War had a massive and indelible impact on the male population of the UK: 886,000 men died, one in eight of those who went to war, and 2% of the entire country's population. 3. During filming fourteen different horses were used as the main horse character Joey, eight of them portraying him as an adult animal, four as a colt and two as foals; four horses played the other main equine character, Topthorn. Up to 280 horses were used in a single scene. 4. Fourteen horses played Joey during the movie. The "main" acting horse in the film, Finder, also portrayed Seabiscuit in the movie about the famous racehorse. Finders Key, the horse and real star of War Horse was last ridden in a race by actor and professional jockey Kevin Mangold, finishing in 5th place at 77 to 1 odds. 5. Cameo - Michael Morpurgo: The author of the source book is seen standing next to David Thewlis during the auction scene at the beginning of the movie. Morpugo's wife Clare is also seen in the film. Storyline: A horse and its relations with the various people it meets before and during the course of the war: a young Devon farmboy, a British cavalry officer, a German soldier, and an old Frenchman and his granddaughter. Anachronisms: 1. The horse is shown galloping in a trench and never having to turn, suggesting the trench is long and straight. In reality, trenches were built with zig-zags so if the enemy got in, it couldn't shoot down the trench and easily hit someone. 2. In 1914 Captain Nicholls listens to a gramophone recording of the beautiful song, "Roses of Picardy" by Frederick Edward Weatherly and Haydn Wood. However, the song wasn't written until 1916.

Once Upon a Time in Mexico. 2003, Starring Antonio Banderas as El Mariachi, Salma Hayek as Carolina, Johnny Depp as Sheldon Jeffrey Sands, Willem Dafoe as Armando Barillo, Eva Mendes as Ajedrez Barillo, Danny Trejo as Cucuy, Mickey Rourke as Billy Chambers, Rubén Blades as Retired FBI Special Agent Jorge Ramírez, Enrique Iglesias as Lorenzo, Marco Leonardi as Fideo, Gerardo Vigil as General Emiliano Marquez, Miguel Couturier as Dr. Guevera, Cheech Marin as Belini, Pedro Armendáriz as Mexican President (El Presidente), Julio Oscar Mechoso as Nicholas (Advisor), Tito Larriva as Cab Driver, Tony Valdes as Chicle Boy, José Luis Avendaño as Alvaro, Rodolfo d'Alejandre as Omar, Natalia Torres as Mariachi's Girl, Steven Constancio as Right Hand, Troy Robinson as Romero, Ermahn Ospina as Qui-Que, Luz María Rojas as Pistolera, Mario Simon as Cook, Bernard Hacker as Blascoe, Cecilia Tijerina as Waitress, Carola Vázquez as Hospital Administrator, René Gatica as Chief Federale, Silvia Santoyo as Bachelorette, Juan Pablo Llaguno as Bull Fighter, Ignacio Torres as Teacher, Rogelio Gonzalez Grau as Manny, Jorge Becerril as Taco, Víctor Carpinteiro as Left Nut and Dagoberto Gama as Que Pasa. Trivia: 1. It is the final film in the "Mariachi Trilogy", which also includes El Mariachi and Desperado. 2. The film received positive reviews but was criticized for reducing El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas) to an almost secondary character in his own trilogy, and also for having a convoluted plot. In the special features of the film's DVD, Robert Rodriguez has explained that this was intended, as he wanted this to be the The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of the trilogy. The film holds the box office record for being the most improved second sequel of all-time grossing 122% more than Desperado. 3. Johnny Depp shot all of his scenes in 9 days, but after his filming was done he didn't want to leave. So he suggested to Robert Rodriguez that he play a small part, the priest that Antonio Banderas talks to in the church, and use his Marlon Brando impression.

Footage from Smith's career as a hockey enforcer is shown during the film's credits, and Smith said in an interview at Grantland.com that he is happy with the finished film. 2. Former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque has a small role as an enforcer for the Albany Patriots. His character fights both Glatt and Rhea over the course of the film. 3. Goon was filmed in Brandon, Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg, Manitoba. Most of the hockey scenes were filmed at the Portage Credit Union Centre in Portage la Prairie. 4. The character of Doug Glatt plays for two teams in the movie: The Orangetown Assassins, who wear orange and black uniforms; and the Halifax Highlanders, whose logo is the letter H with a dot on the right side and wings on the left. Both are allusions to the NHL team Philadelphia Flyers, who have a similar logo and wore a similar style of uniforms in the past. 5. Liev Schreiber was inspired by former hockey enforcer Bob Probert. As an homage to the player, he taped his wrists for the film, just as Probert had done when he played. 6. Though the game shown at the beginning of the movie is between the Albany Patriots and the St. John's Shamrocks, the scoreboard displays the teams as Moose Jaw and Brandon. Quote: Ross Rhea: "Everybody loves the soldiers until they come home and stop fighting."

Trivia: 1. The film's premise is that the canceled Apollo 18 mission actually landed on the moon in December 1974 but never returned, and as a result the United States has never launched another expedition to the Moon. The film is shot in found-footage style, supposedly the lost footage of the Apollo 18 mission that was only recently discovered. 2. The film was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia. However, it has been promoted as a "found footage" film that does not use actors. 3. After the first resting period the astronauts are listening to 'Cheap Day Return' by British rock band Jethro Tull. Tull's third album 'Benefit' contains the track 'For Michael Collins, Jeffrey and Me', a song which refers to Apollo 11's command module pilot Michael Collins. In the song vocalist Ian Anderson sings about the feelings of the command module pilot, being left alone above while others get to walk on the moon, something which is also referred to during the movie. 4. Footage and imagery courtesy of NASA. Anachronism: Work on the Soviet Lunar L3 program was cancelled late in 1974. The LK ('Lunniy korabl' - lunar craft) was not revealed to the west until much later. Thus, the Apollo 18 crew would have had no knowledge of this vehicle (i.e. referring to it as the "LK").

Movie Central, November 5, 2012. Soundtrack: "Running A.D. Part 2" - Performed by Lucian Blaque; "The City Surf" - Performed by Jamim Winans. Trivia: 1. According to actor Liam Neeson, the temperatures were as low as -40°C in Smithers, British Columbia where the film was shot. The snow storms/scenes were actual prevailing weather conditions and not a cinematic illusion produced with CGI trickery. The cast wore thermals under their costumes for additional protection. 2. There is a brief scene after the end credits which shows the alpha wolf lying on his side breathing heavily and Ottway's head resting on the wolf's stomach. If you listen carefully you can also hear Ottway breathing as well. The scene remains ambiguous as to who is the victor. Quote: Diaz: "I just had the clearest thought. I'm done. I'm done."

Silent House. 2011 (American independent/horror genre), Starring Elizabeth Olsen as Sarah, Adam Trese as John, Eric Sheffer Stevens as Peter, Julia Taylor Ross as Sophia, Adam Barnett as Stalking Man, Haley Murphy as Little Girl and Sharon Juchniewicz as Sarah Stand-In. Movie Central, November 17, 2012. Soundtrack: "Wonder Why" - Written by Rob Ritchie, Performed by Maritime Analog. Associate Producer and First Assistant Director: Thomas Fatone. Trivia: 1. The film was directed by Chris Kentis and Laura Lau (the pair also created the 2003 horror film, Open Water). 2. The plot focuses on a young woman who is terrorized in her family vacation home while cleaning up the property with her father and uncle. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2011. 3. The film is a remake of the 2010 Uruguayan film, La casa muda (The Silent House), which was allegedly based on an actual incident that occurred in a village in Uruguay in the 1940s. The film is notable for its use of "real time" footage and the manufactured appearance of a single continuous shot, similar to Alfred Hitchcock's Rope (1948). 4. The movie was shot with Canon EOS 5D Mark II cameras between October and November, 2010 on location at a house in New Rochelle, New York. The house used in the film was found by directors Kentis and Lau entirely empty, and was wallpapered and filled with props and furniture by the production design. 5. Due to the unique nature of the film's presentation as a single take, the production crew ran into several technical issues while filming, mainly surrounding lighting issues and mobility around the house. Since the movie was filmed in 12-15 minute takes, there were several occurrences where entire sequences had to be thrown out and re-done repeatedly due to lighting problems or missed cues. The entire movie was shot to mimic one continuous real-time take, with no cuts from start to finish. It was shot in roughly 10 minute segments then edited to hide the cuts. 6. Although the promotional material for the film suggests that it was filmed in real time in a single long take, Elizabeth Olsen revealed that the movie was actually filmed in 12-minute takes and edited so as to appear as one, which was later confirmed by Kentis and Lau. 7. Directors Kentis and Lau stated that they were inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Rope (1948) and Russian Ark (2002), both purported single take films, as well as the home invasion thriller The Strangers (2008). Due to the unconventional filming process and storytelling mode, Kentis felt he was making an "experimental film". He also stated that the presentation and storytelling mode of the film as a single take was the main focus of the production, and that the fact that there were cuts in the film was irrelevant. 8. In terms of casting, Kentis and Lau sought an actress with theatrical training due to the demanding nature of the filming process; Elizabeth Olsen was cast as the lead after impressing Kentis and Lau with her audition. She is the younger sister of actresses and fashion designers Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. 9. Blood appears on Sarah's chest and blouse in different places, and different patterns. Quote: Trailer: "On Friday March 9, at 7:20 PM, one of the most shocking and twisted incidents ever recorded befell Sarah Murphy and her father. Their ordeal lasted 88 minutes. Witness these true events in real time. 5:52 PM."

Also starring are active duty U.S. Navy SEALs and U.S. Navy Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen. As the film developed with the SEALs on board as advisors, the filmmakers realized that no actors could realistically portray or physically fill the roles they had written and the actual SEALs were drafted to star in the film. The SEALs will remain anonymous, as none of their names appear in the film's creditsDave's narration throughout the movie was a written letter meant for Rorke's son, explaining the valor of the father he will never know, and ending with the poem "Live Your Life" by Tecumseh. The film ends with a dedication to every U.S. Navy SEAL killed in action since 9/11, and a list of their names. Filming took place in Cambodia where an explosion was shot in Phnom Penh with 300 children as extras. Scenes were shot in San Diego at Blue Foot Bar and in a house in the North Park area. Other locations included Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ukraine, Florida, and at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The crew filmed at Navy training sites to provide realistic settings, such as a drug cartel base, a terrorist camp on an isolated island, and a smuggler's yacht. Anachronisms: 1. While in Somalia taking pictures of "Bulldog" the Canon 20D (2004) viewfinder display shown is incorrect. Battery Power and ISO wasn't introduced until Canon 60D (2010). 2. The male CIA Agent meeting up with Agent Morales in Costa Rica claims to have ridden his motorcycle from Colombia that day. There are no roads between Central and South American. The Pan-American Highway is broken up by a virtually impassable section called the Darien Gap. Vehicles have to be transported from one to the other.

Film adapted from the first book in the fictional Barsoom series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs entitled, A Princess of Mars. The film chronicles the first interplanetary adventure of John Carter The motion picture marks the centennial of the character's first appearance. 2. In 1931 Looney Tunes director Bob Clampett approached Edgar Rice Burroughs with the idea of adapting A Princess of Mars into a feature-length animated film. Burroughs responded enthusiastically, recognizing that a regular live-action feature would face various limitations to adapt accurately, so he advised Clampett to write an original animated adventure for John Carter. Working with Burroughs' son John Coleman Burroughs in 1935, Clampett used rotoscope and other hand-drawn techniques to capture the action, tracing the motions of an athlete who performed John Carter's powerful movements in the reduced Martian gravity, and designed the green-skinned, 4-armed Tharks to give them a believable appearance. He then produced footage of them riding their eight-legged Thoats at a gallop, which had all of their eight legs moving in coordinated motion; he also produced footage of a fleet of rocketships emerging from a Martian volcano. MGM was to release the cartoons, and the studio heads were enthusiastic about the series. 3. The test footage, produced by 1936, received negative reactions from film exhibitors across the U.S., especially in small towns; many gave their opinion that the concept of an Earthman on Mars was just too outlandish an idea for midwestern American audiences to accept. The series was not given the go-ahead, and Clampett was instead encouraged to produce an animated Tarzan series, an offer which he later declined. Clampett recognized the irony in MGM's decision, as the Flash Gordon movie serial, released in the same year by Universal Studios, was highly successful. He speculated that MGM believed that serials were only played to children during Saturday matinees, whereas the John Carter tales were intended to be seen by adults during the evening. The footage that Clampett produced was believed lost for many years, until Burroughs' grandson, Danton Burroughs, in the early 1970s found some of the film tests in the Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. archives. Had A Princess of Mars been released, it may have preceded Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to become the first American feature-length animated film. 4. Edgar Rice Burroughs - story "A Princess of Mars". "A Princess of Mars" was originally published as "Under the Moons of Mars" by Norman Bean (Edgar Rice Burroughs' pseudonym) in The All-Story (six pulp magazine issues February - July, 1912). Burroughs was originally afraid that he might be ridiculed for writing such a tale, so he decided to use a pen name. The pseudonym was supposed to be a pun "Normal Bean" (as in "I'm a normal being") to reassure people, but the man who typeset the text thought it was a mistake, so he changed it to "Norman". However, Burroughs' fears turned out to be unfounded: the story and its sequels, collectively known as the "Barsoom series", were almost as popular (and arguably more influential) as those of his most famous creation, Tarzan. 5. Probably holds the record for having the longest period of "development hell" for any movie, at 79 years. Preproduction for a film version first started in 1931, when Robert Clampett (director of 'Looney Tunes') approached author Edgar Rice Burroughs to make an animated feature out of the first book in the series, "A Princess of Mars" (the same story that this film is an adaptation of). Had plans gone through, 'John Carter' could have become America's first animated feature, beating Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). The film finally left development hell in January 2010 when filming officially started in London. 6. The book was written in Utah and much of the film was shot in Utah, almost 100 years apart. Quote: John Carter: [Carter turns to go into the mausoleum] "Oh, and Ned. Take up a cause, fall in love, write a book." Anachronisms: 1. In an early scene of a rainy "New York City, 1881" almost everyone is carrying an umbrella. While umbrellas were certainly around, they were still a bit of a luxury item, more a fashion item. Not everyone had one, especially the lower class. 2. Near the beginning of the movie, it is mentioned that Carter, a former Confederate soldier, was "decorated six times, including the Southern Cross of Honor." In fact, the Confederacy issued no medals and only added a few names to a "Roll of Honor." The Southern Cross of Honor did not exist until the late 1890s when the United Daughters of the Confederacy began giving it to veterans. So, in reality, it would've been impossible for Carter to have been "decorated six times" and receive the Southern Cross of Honor. 3. The shoulder straps that the 7th Cav Officer is wearing should be yellow (Cavalry) not blue (Infantry).

Mars Needs Moms. 2011 (3-D motion capture animated science fiction comedy), Starring Seth Green as Milo (motion capture), Seth Dusky as Milo (voice only), Joan Cusack as Milo's mother (Mom), Tom Everett Scott as Milo's dad (Dad), Elisabeth Harnois as Ki, Dan Fogler as Gribble, Mindy Sterling as The Supervisor, Kevin Cahoon as Wingnut, Ryan and Robert and Raymond Ochoa and Gavin Bryson Thompson as Martian Hatchlings, Liam and Edgar Wells as Robot Martians, Dee Bradley Baker as Two-Cat; Martians: Jacquie Barnbrook, Matthew Henerson, Adam Jennings, Stephen Kearin, Amber Gainey Meade, Aaron Rapke, Julene Renee, Kirsten Severson and Matt Wolf; Martian Hatchlings: Meredith Wells and Teagan Wells; Marianne Bennett as Voice Performer (voice), Jo McGinley as Voice Performer (voice), Daniel James O'Conner as Voice Performer (voice), Edi Patterson as Voice Performer (voice), Erik Schafer as Puppeteer, April Warren as Puppeteer, Barbara Kottmeier as Martian and Peleg Rand as Milo (?). Movie Central, November 20, 2012. Soundtrack: "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" - Written by Freddie Mercury, Performed by Queen, Licensed courtesy of Queen Productions Ltd., Courtesy of Hollywood Records Inc. for N. America. Trivia: 1. Film is based on the Berkeley Breathed book of the same title, and stars both Seth Green (performance capture) and newcomer Seth Dusky (voice) as the main character Milo. After spending six weeks outfitted in a special sensor-equipped performance-capture suit while simultaneously performing Milo's lines, Seth Green's voice sounded too mature for the character and was dubbed over by that of 11-year-old actor Seth R. Dusky. 2. Mars Needs Moms was the final product of Robert Zemeckis' studio ImageMovers Digital, which shut down after its completion. The film was both a critical and commercial failure. The film is currently (unadjusted for inflation) the biggest box office bomb in film history, with a total net loss of $136,007,242. 3. Milo's (Seth Green) mom (Joan Cusack) is wearing a Carolina Panthers jersey with the name Smith and the number 21 on it when she is taken to Mars. As of the 2011 season no player with the last name Smith has worn 21 in the team's history. (Most recently the number has been worn by defensive back Brandon Hogan. Long time Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith wears number 89) Because of this, Smith may be Milo's family's last name, as fan apparel is often customized in this manner. 4. At 54:02, Gribble exclaims "My Sharona" when he sees Ki in the underworld after he and Milo escape from the citadel. This is probably a reference to the 1979 gold record song "My Sharona" by The Knack.

Trivia: 1. Of all the actors and actresses making cameos in this film, Alan Arkin is the only one to ever appear on The Muppet Show, back in 1979. 2. A picture of Jim Henson appears on a poster outside of the Muppet Theater, and a picture of him with Kermit the Frog appears on the wall in Kermit's old office. 3. This is the first time that John Krasinski has been in the same movie as his real-life wife, Emily Blunt, although they do not share any screen time together. In addition to his real-life wife, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski is also joined by two former on-screen girlfriends. Amy Adams and Rashida Jones both play love interests to his "The Office" character, Jim Halpert. Emily Blunt reprises her role from The Devil Wears Prada as Miss Piggy's receptionist. 4. The first of any Muppet productions to win an Oscar. Flight of the Conchords' Bret McKenzie won Best Original Song for "Man or Muppet". 5. Archival recordings of Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Richard Hunt and Jerry Nelson can be heard in the film through The Muppet Show segments in the opening flashbacks. In his final film role with the Muppets, Jerry Nelson reprised his role from The Muppet Show as the announcer of The Muppet Telethon.

It is about three young women being led by a Reverend who preaches cannibalism. The story gives off an urban legend feel, and was made as a spoof of traditional horror films. This cult movie is known for the 'warning bell' gimmick, which rang in theatres to warn the more squeamish members of the audience for impending gory scenes. 3. It was filmed between 1971 and 1972, in rural areas surrounding Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The town scenes were all shot in Beaverton, Ontario. The home was owned by May Jarvis in Aurora, Ontario. Other scenes were shot in Oak Ridges, Ontario. This movie was made with a low budget and most of the dialogue was improvised. 4. Production was slowed, but the filmmakers focused on filming scenes without Perry in them during his absence. 3. As of August 2007, the film had score of 18 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 26 reviews, indicating "extreme dislike or disgust." But Xena did not air until 1995, and the comic book didn't come out until 1996. 2. The phone used by Danny Delanay to take a picture of Cataleya is an Apple iPhone 3G or 3GS. The older model was released only in 2008, while the movie takes place in 2007. 3. While they correctly used 3.5" floppy discs in the opening scene, the thing that she swallowed while being pursued after her parents murder appeared to be an SD card. This technology wasn't developed until 1999. But then when she vomited it up in the embassy, it still appeared to be an SD card until the agent turned around and inserted a floppy disc into his computer. 4. When FBI Agent Ross goes to CIA agent to obtain the address of Don Luis there is a picture of Barack Obama on the wall. The scene is set in 2007 when the president was George W. Bush. 5. In 1992, when Saldeya arrives in the United States, she is seen wearing a t-shirt with a big "Japan Rags" logo on it. Japan Rags is a brand owned by French clothing company Le Temps des Cerises, which was founded in 1998.

Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan) says to Captain Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg), "Take your stinking hands off me, you damn dirty human!" mirroring the original line from George Taylor (Charlton Heston) in Planet of the Apes. "Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!" 2. Charlton Heston and Linda Harrison are the only actors to appear in both this film and Planet of the Apes. Linda Harrison, "Nova" from Planet of the Apes, plays one of the humans in the rolling cage that takes Leo to Ape City. She is the woman next to him who shakes her head "no" when Leo speaks. Charlton Heston, star of Planet of the Apes as well as National Rifle Association President, is the only ape with a gun. He passes the gun to his son Thade, while he dies speaking the line "Damn them! Damn them all to hell!", a variation of his character's last lines in the original: "Damn you! God damn you all to hell!". 3. Paul Giamatti was inspired by W.C. Fields for his performance. Anachronism: When Leo and co. come out of the shipwreck there's a shot from some distance, back at the ship. Look to the far right and you will see a road with clear tire tracks on it.

Trivia: 1. It is described as a pastiche of "escape-from-dystopia" science fiction films of the 1960s and 1970s such as Fahrenheit 451, THX 1138, Parts: The Clonus Horror, and Logan's Run. The film's plot revolves around the struggle of Ewan McGregor's character to fit into the highly structured world he lives in and the series of events that unfolds when he questions how truthful that world really is. 2. The ruined buildings where Jordan and Lincoln sleep after leaving the subterranean compound are in Rhyolite, Nevada. The city parts of the movie were filmed in Detroit, Michigan, with Michigan Central Station one of the notable locations. Other portions of the film were shot in the Coachella Valley, California. Though the city shots through the middle of the film are purportedly in Los Angeles, the city of Detroit served as the principal location for filming. Notable landmarks include the Johnny Rocket's restaurant on Woodward Avenue across from Comerica Park, the giant building mural of Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman, the U.S. Federal Building, and the raised tracks of the People Mover. These shots were overlaid with CGI-produced shots of tall, futuristic buildings to create the composite city of "Los Angeles". 3. The Black and White commercial featuring Sarah Jordan wasn't shot specifically for the movie. It is an actual commercial starring Scarlett Johansson. 4. Robert S. Fiveson, director of The Clonus Horror, brought a copyright infringement suit against DreamWorks and Warner Bros. The lawsuit cited almost 100 points of similarity between "Clonus" and this film, and the court ruled that Fiveson made a prima facie case for infringement. Before the case could go to trial, DreamWorks settled with the plaintiffs for an undisclosed seven-figure amount.

Producer Jerome Hellman bought the rights to Theroux's novel as soon as it was published, and Director Weir committed to filming it. Jack Nicholson was originally offered the lead role, but backed out partly because he could not watch the LA Lakers from Belize, where part of the film was to be shot. He instead went on to star in Terms of Endearment, a role Ford had also been offered. 3. When financial backing for the film fell through and the project was suspended indefinitely, Weir was approached to direct Witness starring Harrison Ford. The film, which was Weir's first American production, was a critical and commercial success, garnering eight Academy Award nominations including Weir for Best Director, Ford for Best Actor, and the film itself for Best Film. During the production of Witness, Weir discussed The Mosquito Coast with Ford who became interested in the role of Allie Fox. 4. Filming began the week of February 7, 1986 in Belize and finished there on April 26 before moving to Georgia (Weir and Ford famously missed the Academy Awards ceremony for which they had both been nominated for Witness). (the film won two Oscars, for Best Screenplay and Best Film Editing). Some post-production editing was done in Australia. 5. The film contains the last feature film role of Butterfly McQueen, who had a prominent role in Gone with the Wind. She plays a lapsed churchgoer, and in real life was a vocal atheist. The film also features a brief appearance by Jason Alexander, who would go on to star as George Costanza on the television series Seinfeld. 6. River Phoenix and Martha Plimpton started dating after the two met while making this film; the relationship lasted for several years, during which they also co-starred in Sidney Lumet's Running on Empty. It was also his performance as the son to Harrison Ford's character that led Ford to recommend Phoenix to Steven Spielberg for the part of teenage Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The Tasmanian Tiger, also known as the Tasmanian Wolf, thylacine or Thylacinus cynocephalus, the latter which is Greek for "dog-headed pouched one", is an extinct species of carnivorous marsupial. It is so called a Tasmanian Tiger because of the stripes on its back. 3. During the beginning of this film, actual original black-and-white archival footage is seen of the last ever Tasmanian Tiger living in captivity. 4. An end title card reads: "Traps and snares are illegal in Tasmania". 5. Approximately 40% of the film's production personnel were from Tasmania - Australia's small southernmost island where the film was shot. Locations included Maydena, Deloraine and the Florentine Valley.
