The film is inspired by the real life incident known as the Battle of Los Angeles, during World War II. On the night of 24-25 February 1942, unidentified aircraft were allegedly spotted in the airspace above Los Angeles. Suspecting it to be the Japanese, a blackout of the city was ordered and over 1,440 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition was fired. Upon finding no evidence of the existence of any enemy aircraft, the incident was declared to be a "false alarm". The event has since been chalked up to as being a result of "war nerves", likely triggered by a lost weather balloon and exacerbated by stray flares and shell bursts from adjoining anti-aircraft batteries. 2. Very little of the film was actually shot in Los Angeles. Tax incentives brought the production to Louisiana where sets of Los Angeles streets were constructed. 3. The officer referred to by Sgt. Nantz on the bus in reference to the line "Retreat Hell" is Capt. Lloyd W. Williams of the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines. When advised to withdraw by a French officer at the defensive line just north of the village of Lucy-le-Bocage on June 1st, 1918, he is said to have replied: "Retreat? Hell, we just got here!". Captain Williams died 11 days later near Chateau-Thierry. Quote: LCpl. Richard Guerrero: So what's your take on this, specs?
Cpl. Kevin Harris: I don't know, extraterrestrial?
Cpl. Lee Imlay: You mean like from space?
Cpl. Nick Stavrou: No Imlay, from Canada.

Richard Dreyfuss: The Jaws star as fisherman Matt Boyd who appears at the start of this movie. Reportedly, Dreyfuss was paid $50,000 for his cameo in the film. He donated all of the money to charity. In addition, Dreyfuss appears dressed like Matt Hooper, his role in the Steven Spielberg's masterpiece.

The film, considered groundbreaking, has inspired several individuals in numerous ways. John Lasseter, head of Pixar and Disney's animation group, described how the film helped him see the potential of computer-generated imagery in the production of animated films stating "without Tron there would be no Toy Story". 2. Flynn's program is named "Clu". CLU is an old programming language. 3. TRON is also a debugging command in the BASIC programming language, meaning "TRace ON." However, Steven Lisberger, has stated in interviews that he took the name from the word "electronic," and did not know about the BASIC command until later. 4. Although the film was an initial failure, the arcade videogame based on it proved to be a tremendous hit and actually out-grossed the film. 5. Many Disney animators refused to work on this movie because they feared that computers would put them out of business. In fact, 22 years later Disney closed its hand-drawn animation studio in favor of CGI animation. Hand-drawn animation was ultimately resumed at Disney at the behest of new creative director John Lasseter, also head of Pixar- ironically a computer animation company. 6. The film was disqualified from receiving an Academy Award nomination for special effects, because the Academy felt at the time that using computers was "cheating". Tron received nominations for Best Costume Design and Best Sound at the 55th Academy Awards, and received the Academy Award for Technical Achievement 14 years later. Over time, Tron developed into a cult film and eventually spawned into a franchise, which consists of multiple video games, comic books and an animated television series. Storyline: Hacker/arcade owner Kevin Flynn is digitally broken down into a data stream by a villainous software pirate known as the Master Control and reconstituted into the internal, 3-D graphical world of computers. It is there, in the ultimate blazingly colorful, geometrically intense landscapes of cyberspace, that Flynn joins forces with Tron to outmaneuver the Master Control program that holds them captive in the equivalent of a gigantic, infinitely challenging computer game.

The infamous sound effect, the "Wilhelm Scream: is featured in this film. The scream was originally done in the 1950s by Sheb Wooley, who sings "Flying Purple People Eater," (1958) used in the closing credits. Quote: The Missing Link: [while outside for the first time in 50 years] It a little hotter than I remember. Has the Earth gotten warmer? Trivia: Directed by Michael Curtiz. Based on the famous Mark Twain novel of the same name, it was the third sound film version of the story and the second filmed by MGM. The film was the first adaptation of Huckleberry Finn to be filmed in Cinemascope and Technicolor, and the first film to star Eddie Hodges and former boxer Archie Moore in leading roles (as Huck and Jim). Tony Randall also appeared in the film (and got top billing) and Buster Keaton had a bit role in what proved to be his final film for his old studio, MGM. Some scenes in the film were shot on the Sacramento River, which doubled for the Mississippi River. Archie Moore was a Light-heavyweight prizefighter and World Champion in his weight class (175-pound limit) from 1952 to 1960. He holds the record for most knockouts by a professional fighter, 145. Anachronism: Just before Huck and Jim jump off the riverboat, Huck puts on his pants. We hear a "snap" as he snaps his pants. He then zips up his zipper. Neither snap fasteners or zippers were in use at the time (1851). Storyline: Huckleberry Finn, a rambuctious boy adventurer chafing under the bonds of civilization, escapes his humdrum world and his selfish, plotting father by sailing a raft down the Mississippi River. Trivia: 1. The title Biutiful refers to the orthographical spelling in Spanish of the English word beautiful as it would sound to native Spanish speakers. 2. It was shot between October 2008 and February 2009 in Barcelona, Spain. It was a Mexican and Spanish co-production. 3. Javier Bardem's part in this film is the first time that a performance entirely in the Spanish Language has been nominated for an Academy Award Best Actor Oscar. 4. The Director Alejandro González Iñárritu spent 14 months editing the film. Storyline: Biutiful is the story of Uxbal, a single father who struggles to reconcile fatherhood, love, spirituality, crime, guilt and mortality amid the dangerous underworld of modern Barcelona, all before his time is up. He must deal with his loving but unreliable, reckless, and bipolar wife (from whom he is separated and who poses a threat to the safety of their children), and a large group of illegal immigrants for whom he obtains material so that they may not be deported. In the middle of all of this, he is diagnosed with terminal cancer, which he tries to hide from his two children. Quotes: 1. Ana: Dad! How do you spell "beautiful"? Uxbal: Like that, like it sounds. 2. Uxbal: Look in my eyes. Look at my face. Remember me, please. Don't forget me, Ana. Don't forget me, my love, please.

Trivia: Principal photography took place in early February 2010 in Berlin, Germany, and in the Studio Babelsberg film studios. The bridge the taxi plunges from is the Oberbaumbrücke. The Friedrichstraße was blocked for several nights for the shooting of a car chase. Some of the shooting was done in the Hotel Adlon. Locations include the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin Central Station, Berlin Friedrichstraße station, Pariser Platz, Museum Island, the Oranienburger Straße in Berlin, and the Leipzig/Halle Airport. According to Andrew Rona, the budget was $40 million.[2] Dark Castle Entertainment contributed $30 million. German public film funds supported the production with €4.65 million (more than $6 million). The working title was Unknown White Male. According to his passport, Martin Harris was born on June 7th. This is also the birthday of Liam Neeson who portrays Dr. Harris. When Martin Harris and wife take a taxi from the airport to the Adlon Hotel, you see the Soviet War Memorial, then they pass the Victory Column towards West. This is near the Tiergarten. After they passed the Victory Column you see the Brandenburger Tor. Many German actors were cast for the movie. Rainer Bock had previously starred in Inglourious Basterds (which also starred Diane Kruger) and The White Ribbon. Anachronism: The passport inspection scene at the airport shows that the film is set in December 2010. The entire film shows German Police cars as being green-silver in color and Police uniforms as green-beige. However, in 2010 the State Police of Berlin had started switching the color of uniforms to blue and the color of Police cars to silver-blue. Due to the amount of Police officers/cars involved in the story, at least some should have had the new color scheme.

There are brief renditions of other Berlin songs ("Heat Wave", "Let Me Sing and I'm Happy" and "Blue Skies"). The song, "What Can You Do with a General?" was originally written for an un-produced project called Stars on My Shoulders. Trivia: The photo that Vera-Ellen shows to Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye of her brother, Bennie, is actually a photo of Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer. Cast members Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney both have descendants in the Star Trek series. Bing's granddaughter, Denise Crosby appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation, while Clooney's son, Miguel Ferrer appeared in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. During "The Best Things" dance number, at the end of the number, on the very last twirl around a kneeling Danny Kaye before she falls into his arms, Vera-Ellen trips over Danny Kaye's outstretched left foot. She recovers so smoothly that it is very difficult to catch.

Movie Central, December 13, 2011. Songs: "Letter From Mexico" and "Business In Mexico". The film was devised, storyboarded and directed by Gareth Edwards, who also worked as the visual effects artist. Allan Niblo and James Richardson of Vertigo Films work as producers on the production. The filming equipment cost approximately $15,000, with the budget coming in at under $500,000. Made with a crew consisting of only two people using "off the shelf" $8,400 cameras, editors, digital effects programs and other such equipment. The film was able to be made on such a low budget due to the use of prosumer cameras to capture digital video rather than the more expensive 35mm film. Any settings featured in the film were real locations often used without permission asked in advance, and the extras were just people who happened to be there at the time. Edwards had the idea for the film while watching some fishermen struggling to haul in their net and imagining a monster. He had the idea to make a monster movie set "years after most other monster movies end, when people aren't running and screaming, but life is going on" and "where a giant, dead sea monster is considered completely normal." He pitched the idea to Vertigo Films, and they asked Edwards to watch a film called In Search of a Midnight Kiss which starred Scoot McNairy and had been made for $15,000. As the chemistry between Edwards's two characters was so important, he wanted a real couple, and luckily McNairy's then-girlfriend (and now wife) Whitney Able is an actress, and joined the project. The film was shot in Belize, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Texas in the US, over three weeks. For about 90% of the filming the crew comprised seven people transported in one van: Ian Maclagan (sound operator), Jim Spencer (line producer), Verity Oswin the Mexican 'fixer', Edwards, a driver, and Able and McNairy, the stars. As the low-budget production didn't run to a camera dolly, Edwards made do by sticking the camera out of the van window, cushioned on some bundled-up clothing. The film was shot opportunistically, with little to no outline of scenes and their direction. The 2 actors were given a general outline of scenes and simply interacted with one another and the other cast members, all which are not actors. All the scenes and shots were opportunistic as well.

The character of Rapunzel is constantly barefoot, something she shares in common with her voice actress Mandy Moore, who loves to perform barefoot. 3. Rapunzel's parents don't say a word for the entire movie. 4. In the marketplace, when Rapunzel looks at the mosaic of herself, the camera cuts from her eyes to the tile eyes of the picture and, very briefly, there is a clarinet musical motif that is exactly the same as the motif in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, when Cameron is looking at the pointillist painting and the camera cuts between Cameron's eyes and that of the child in the painting. The moment is just a fraction of a second; just after that, Rapunzel looks at the clarinet player walking behind her and smiles. 5. Rapunzel's hair color in the film (blonde as a child, but returned to its natural brown as an adult after the magic was taken from it) mirrors that of her portrayer Mandy Moore, who broke into the public light as a blonde teen singer, but has since become known with her natural brown hair. 6. In the opening scenes you see baby Rapunzel in her cradle staring up at a baby mobile. In a little bit of foreshadowing, you see several items hanging from the mobile that come into play later in the story, namely a chameleon (her pet Pascal), a rubber ducky (The Snuggly Duckling that Flynn takes her to), a cupid (also from the Snuggly Duckling), a horse (Maximus) and a blue bird (when she first leaves the tower). Quote: Flynn Rider: Frying pans... who knew, right?

Wade Grayling was on his way to a promising career with the North West Mounted Police when, on that fateful night in 1893, he was accused of dishonoring the Crown. Subsequently dispatched to survey the Yukon for a new garrison, Grayling arrives in the remote village of Merci, where he encounters a small group of Russian settlers who are in desperate need of law and order.

Key Seal Warriors: Alasdair Boyce, George Brown, Jack Carswell, Marcin Cichocki, Willie Dickson, Alex Irvine, Darren Kelly, Iain Leslie, Alasdair MacLeod, Ruaridh MacLeod, Calum Macrae, Colin Russell and Alan Thompson. Movie Central, December 15, 2011, with Connie Luther. Song: "The Return of the Eagle" - Performed by Torc, Featuring The Neff Brothers and Atli Örvarsson. Trivia: 1. The story is based on the Ninth Spanish Legion's supposed disappearance in Britain. 2. The main character's name is Marcus Aquila. Aquila is the Latin word for "Eagle". 3. The statue that Marcus glances at at the fort before the first Celt attack is a bust of Antoninus Pius, who was emperor of Rome at the time this film is set, AD 140. His reign is considered one of the calmest in Rome's history. 4. Principal photography began in Hungary, which doubles for England. Production then moved to Scotland, where filming took place in Wester Ross and at Loch Lomond, among other locations. 5. Only 1% of Scots speak Gaelic, limiting the talent pool to just 60,000 people. Several Gaelic-speaking boys auditioned for the role of a boy of the Seal people, aged nine to twelve, but without success, so Macdonald held open auditions in Glasgow for the role. It was eventually given to nine-year-old Thomas Henry from Newbarnsley, Belfast, who had been educated in Irish Gaelic. 6. Achiltibuie, a village in northwest Scotland, was used as a filming location for the "Seal People". The main location was Fox Point, Old Dornie. The Pictish village which was constructed at Fox Point was used on most days of the filming. Other sites included Achnahaird beach, where a horse chase was filmed, and Loch Lurgainn. Macdonald intended to use locals as extras. This was a success with many locals appearing as extras after going to castings in nearby Ullapool. Their roles included "Seal Warriors", "Seal Princesses" and "Elders". 7. In a reversal of Hollywood films about the Roman Empire, MacDonald said the Romans are played by American actors and Rome's enemies by British actors. The Romans are played by Americans "to achieve a little contemporary symbolism", with Bell using his native Sunderland Mackem accent, and Scots Gaelic standing in for Pictish. Quotes: 1. Marcus Aquila: [to Esca] You are free, my friend. 2. [last lines] Esca: So what now? Marcus Aquila: You decide. Anachronisms: 1. The movie is based on the assumption that the Ninth Legion Hispana disappeared in Scotland around 120. However it highly probably was just transferred to Noviomagus, modern Nijmegen in The Netherlands. It disappeared after 140. 2. As Marcus and Esca ride across the countryside, they use stirrups, which are not known in Europe until the 7th century AD. 3. Marcus noted that Esca knew the Northern language and could interpret. Esca was a Southern Britain and spoke Brythonic, which is close to Welsh. When they pass through Hadrian's Wall into Scotland, Esca speaks in Gaelic to everyone. There were no Gaelic speakers known to be in Scotland in 120 A.D. The inhabitants the Picts are believed to have had a working knowledge of Brythonic. The first Roman recording of Gaelic speakers the Scotti in Scotland was in a skirmish at Hadrian's Wall in 297, and immigration wasn't until circa 400 A.D. Esco could indeed interpret, but in Brythonic not Gaelic.

Movie Central, December 17, 2011, with Connie Luther. The film stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as fictionalised versions of themselves undertaking a restaurant tour of northern England. Storyline: In an effort to impress his gourmand American girlfriend, Mischa, Steve Coogan has accepted a commission from The Observer newspaper to go on a restaurant tour of the north of England. However, when Mischa (who was meant to accompany him on the trip) insists that they take a break from their relationship and returns to America, Steve is forced to invite colleague and friend-of-sorts Rob Brydon. Throughout the film the two constantly bicker and attempt to undermine and outdo each other, especially in the presence of any attractive women they encounter. Steve has a number of one-night stands but is increasingly revealed to be in a rut both professionally and personally: at one point, as Steve gets stuck attempting to cross a river using a series of stepping stones, Rob shouts out to him, "You're stuck in a metaphor!" The competitive atmosphere between the two is occasionally broken by passages of amicable and spontaneous comic improvisation, with each riffing off the other's ideas. Summary: The series is a largely improvised sitcom in which Coogan plays a food critic for the UK's Observer who is joined on a working road trip by his friend (Brydon) who fills in at the last minute when Coogan's romantic relationship falls apart.
