Storyline: Four young Sudanese refugees (some of the Lost Boys of Sudan) are helped by Carrie Davis, a brash American woman, after they win a lottery for relocation to the United States.
Trivia: It is an American drama film written by Margaret Nagle, and directed by Philippe Falardeau. Filmed in Atlanta, Georgia and South Africa, the film stars Reese Witherspoon, Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, Emmanuel Jal, Corey Stoll, and Sarah Baker. It was screened in the Special Presentations section of the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival before being released on October 3, 2014. Another major screening was held by the Greenwich International Film Festival on October 22, 2014, for the benefit of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. The Good Lie was met with positive reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a "Certified Fresh" rating of 87%, based on 67 reviews, with an average rating of 6.8/10. The consensus reads, "The Good Lie sacrifices real-life nuance in order to turn its true story into a Hollywood production, but the results still add up to a compelling, well-acted, and deeply moving drama." On Metacritic, the film has a score of 65 out of 100, based on 30 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews" from critics.
Ger Duany (born November 9, 1978) is a South Sudanese actor and model based in the United States. Duany was born in Akobo, South Sudan in 1978. He was forcefully recruited as a child soldier during the Second Sudanese Civil War. Duany successfully fled to Ethiopia at age 14, then to Kenya, and finally sought refuge in the United States when he was sixteen, becoming one of the Lost Boys of Sudan.
Emmanuel Jal (born Jal Jok c. 1980) is a South Sudanese musician, former child soldier, and political activist. His autobiography, War Child: A Child Soldier's Story, was published in 2009. Born in a Nuer family in the village of Tonj, Warrap State in the Bahr el Ghazal region of Sudan (now South Sudan), Jal was a young child when the Second Sudanese Civil War broke out. His father joined the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) and when he was roughly seven years old, his mother was killed by soldiers loyal to the government. He then decided to join the thousands of children travelling to Ethiopia seeking education and opportunity. Along the way however, many of the children, Jal included, were recruited by the SPLA and taken to military training camps in the bush in Etwas disguised as a school in front of international aid agencies and UN representatives, but behind closed doors the children were training to fight. Jal spent several years fighting with the SPLA in Ethiopia, until war broke in and out, there too and the child soldiers were forced back into Sudan by the fighting and joined the SPLA's efforts to fight the government in the town of Juba. "Many kids there were so bitter, they wanted to know what happened to them. And we all wanted revenge." When the fighting became unbearable Jal and some other children decided to run away. They were on the move for three months, with many dying on the way, until they reached the town of Waat, which was the headquarters of a small group that had separated themselves from the main SPLA. In Waat, Jal met Emma McCune, a British aid worker married to senior SPLA commandant Riek Machar. Emmanuel was only 11 years old then and McCune insisted he should not be a soldier. She adopted him and smuggled him to Kenya. There Emmanuel attended school in Nairobi. With the help of a British aid worker, Emma McCune, Jal escaped into Kenya. But even that came with hardships as he lived for years in the slums. But Jal eventually stumbled upon hip-hop and discovered the genre harboured incredible power, both spiritual and political. While studying in Kenya, Jal started singing to ease the pain of what he had experienced. He also became very active in the community, raising money for local street children and refugees. With the encouragement of those around him like Gatkuoth Jal who has also went through the same experience, Jal became increasingly involved in music and formed several groups. His first single, "All We Need Is Jesus", was a hit in Kenya and received airplay in the UK. Through his music, Jal counts on the unity of the citizens to overcome ethnic and religious division and motivate the youth in Sudan. After escaping to Kenya, he fell in love with hip hop in the way that it identified issues being faced by the neighbourhood, which he was able to identify with in a unique manner. Although he lacked any music background or knowledge of its history, he felt that hip hop could provide the easiest and most effective vehicle to express his story and lobby for political change. Jal, whose own childhood was robbed from him, aims to protect the childhood of others through music. He has also passionately criticised the current state of hip hop culture in the United States. He sees hip hop as a vehicle to communicate an authentic message, rather than a space to pursue street credibility. "As well as simply being great songs, people are really getting into the lyrics, really understanding his message, and he is a great role model." He has expressed concern about the message being sent by American hip-hop artists, saying "American hip hop is still entwined with gang culture, drugs, sexual violence, and greed. It's a battleground." His song "50 Cent" speaks to the successful American rapper to change his violent messages, which have a destructive influence on children, as exemplified through his Bulletproof videogame.
Filming locations: Lawrenceville, Georgia, USA; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; South Africa.
'The Lost Boys of Sudan', the name given to the groups of over 20,000 boys of the Nuer and Dinka ethnic groups who were displaced and/or orphaned during the Second Sudanese Civil War, served as inspiration for the movie.
Emmanuel Jal, the actor who plays Paul, describes his real child-soldier atrocities in the Michael Portillo documentary "How Violent Are You" - part of the BBC's Horizon series.
Ger Duany is a Sudanese refugee himself who suffered as a child soldier before being granted asylum in the United States.
After Jeremiah quits his grocery job and goes back to the employment agency, the phone number in the window is a St Louis area code, not Kansas City.
When the refugees first arrive in Kansas City and mention needing to meet an escort by the baggage claim, they descend an escalator. MCI (Kansas City's primary airport) does not have a lower level baggage claim. The airport is three, single-level terminals all with various baggage claims on the same level.
Quotes: 1. Nick: "What are you doing?" Jeremiah: "It is a sin not to give to those in need." Nick: "According to who?" Jeremiah: "Jeremiah." Nick: "And who is that?" Jeremiah: [turning in his apron] "Me. My name is Jeremiah." 2. Carrie Davis: "Who do you have to screw around here to see an immigration officer?" Dan Reed: "Me!" 3. [first lines] Title Card: In 1983, a brutal civil war broke out in Sudan between the North and the South over religion and resources, leaving villages destroyed by northern government armies and militia. Title Card: By 1987, thousands of orphaned children began to flee on foot across sub-Saharan Africa, walking as many as thousands of miles to Ethiopia and then Kenya. Thirteen years later, 3600 refugees would be relocated to the U.S.A. They were known simply as "The Lost Boys of Sudan." Title Card: This film is inspired by their story. 4. Aid Worker: "Step up, please." Refugee: "Don't forget us in America." Abital: [Referring to NIKE 'Just Do It' T-shirt] Now we can finally find out what this means." Mamere: [narrating] "This is the story of my brothers and sisters. When we were little we did not know many things. We did not know the world was big, or that it was different from us. We only knew our villages in Sudan, which have been there for thousands of years. I should say Southern Sudan, for we were soon to learn that was an important distinction." 5. Young Jeremiah: "Some of these people have no color." Young Mamere: "Because they are born without skin." 6. Young Mamere: [to taller boy] "I have courage but all you have is strength." Anachronism: In the section of the movie where the refugees travel to the US, there is a scene that shows a Delta Aircraft (767-300ER) landing. The livery shown on the aircraft is the current livery used from 2008-present, also known as the "Upward and Onward" scheme, changed because of the merger with Northwest Airlines. The time that the refugees would have been traveling to the US is before the merger, so that livery should not have been used. The proper livery would be the either the "Colors in Motion" scheme, used from 2000 until the merger with Northwest Airlines, or the Ron Allen scheme, which was the livery used before 2000.
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie. 1996, Starring Michael J. Nelson as Mike Nelson, Trace Beaulieu as Crow T. Robot/ Dr. Clayton Forrester, Kevin Murphy as Tom Servo, Jim Mallon as Gypsy and John Brady as Benkitnorf. DVD, with Melanie Luther and Dr. Connie Luther, July 1, 2015. Music by Billy Barber. Soundtrack: "Love Theme From Mystery Science Theater 3000" - Music by Charlie Erickson and Joel Hodgson, Arranged and Performed by David Alvin.
Storyline: The film opens with mad scientist Dr. Clayton Forrester, working from an underground laboratory, explaining the premise of the film (and associated TV series). Mike Nelson and the robots Crow T. Robot, and Tom Servo, along with Gypsy, are aboard the Satellite of Love high in Earth's orbit, when Dr. Forrester forces them to watch the film This Island Earth to break their wills; as per the television show, Mike, Crow, and Tom make fun of the movie as it airs. The movie riffing scenes are bookended and interspersed with short sketches. Prior to the movie, Crow attempts to dig through the ship's hull to return to Earth. After the filmstrip breaks and Dr. Forrester reloads it, Crow and Tom dare Mike to drive the Satellite himself, but ends up crashing into the Hubble Space Telescope; Mike then tries to repair the Hubble using the Satellite's manipulator arms, MANOS, but instead further damages the unit before Gypsy takes over. Some time into the film, Tom reveals that he has an interocitor like that used in This Island Earth. The gang tries to use Tom's device to return to Earth, but instead contact a Metalunan (the alien race from the film) who is unable to help them to figure out how to use it correctly but does accidentally repeatedly zap Tom's head with a laser beam. The contact is broken by Dr. Forrester, who also has an interocitor, and he zaps the group to encourage them back to the movie theater. After the movie, Mike, Crow, and Tom are far from broken, celebrating in various Metaluna ways. Dr. Forrester, furious at his failure, attempts to use his own interocitor to harm Mike and the others, but only succeeds in transporting himself into the shower of the Metalunan previously seen. Mike and the robots briefly celebrate Dr. Forrester's disappearance before they realize they no longer have a way back to Earth without him. Mike says "Hey, wait a minute!" and the crew head back to the theater in time for the movie's ending credits.
Trivia: It is a film adaptation of the television series Mystery Science Theater 3000, produced and set between seasons 6 and 7 of the show. It was distributed by Gramercy Pictures and produced by Best Brains and Universal Studios. The filmmakers dub a new comic narrative over the 1955 science-fiction movie This Island Earth, editing out approximately 20 minutes of the original film. Mike Nelson and his robot companions watch and give their comments about "This Island Earth". Filming locations: Energy Park Studios - 1515 Brewster Street, St. Paul, Minnesota, USA (studio); St. Paul, Minnesota, USA. Produced by Trace Beaulieu, Jim Mallon and Kevin Murphy.
Alternate Versions:
a. In the original version, the ending was different. Mike and the 'bots made an elaborate practical joke in which they used the interociter to transmogrify a regular ant into a MutAnt (affectionately known as Scrotor), who promptly throttles Dr. Forrester. Meanwhile, Crow uses the chainsaw he found in Tom Servo's room to once again try to "dig" his way back to Earth. This was the version shipped to some film critics before the studio demanded they re-shoot the ending (too "scary".) It was finally shown to a public audience at the second MST3K convention, along with another deleted scene involving air being sucked in space a la Apollo 13.
b. Also cut was another host segment in which, during a meteor shower, the robots and Mike go back to the storm shelter (Crow tried to tunnel through space with it at the beginning), and when the air is cut off, the 'Bots run around heroically (and hysterically) to save Mike from asphyxiation.
Crazy Credits:
When "Puppet handlers" comes up crow says "There were no puppets in this movie."
Mike Nelson: ...he's the guy who goes around attributing his own faults to other people. Tom Servo: Oh, right. The *projectionist*!
As the credits go on and on and on, one of the robots lets out a flusterated: "Oh, now they're just listing some people who drove by the studio one morning..."
When the re-recording company gets listed on the credits, Mike speaks in a raspy-stuttering voice, "Re-recorded at Sync Souuu-uunnnd-dd-dddddd!"
At the end, where the country of first publication is, Mike and the 'Bots chime: CROW: Country of first publication United States of America. Offer void in Utah. MIKE: Children under 12, their families and employees are prohibited in taking part in this contest. SERVO: If not fully satisfied with this movie, please return unused portion for a full refund.
When the "Thanks" credits comes up, Crow says, "While we're thanking people, I'd like to thank a guy named Earl."
On going joke about some guy named Rando in the credits.
Julie Walker's name is in the credits and a comment is made: "Julie Walker: Texas Ranger".
When "Eastman Kodak" appears in the credits, Tom Servo says "East Man...he came out of the east to do battle with the amazing RANDO!"
When the name L. Marie Ford appears, Crow says "Come on down to L. Marie Ford, free hot dogs, and balloons for mom."
When thanks are given to Energy Park Studios the comment "Energy Park, providing a safe place for energy to play."
When special effects came up "Excuse me sir, all the magic in this movie will be done by THE AMAZING RANDO!"
At the end of the credits in action voice "All rights are reserved Calahan." Grunts: "Oh yeah, but what about the rights of that little girl."
At the end it says Country of first publication: United States of America".

When Universal originally released the movie, they thought that a limited release in a select group of "college towns" (where they believed MST3K was most appreciated) over a longer period of time would lead to a box office bonanza and keep it from having to compete with the early summer blockbusters like Twister (1996) and Mission: Impossible (1996). Instead, very few fans of the show were even aware that the movie had been released and the film languished in relative obscurity throughout the spring and early summer. This was the first (and last) time that Universal attempted such a plan.
At one point, Crow quips, "Oh, PLEASE, let us get the Sci-Fi Channel, oh please, oh please, oh please!" At the time, the production company Best Brains was negotiating a deal to air on the Sci-Fi Channel.
The TV show's usual density of gags was reduced for theatrical audiences, so that a larger number of people laughing wouldn't cause too much dialogue to be missed.
At ninety minutes, each episode of the television series is actually longer than the movie runs (73 minutes).
By many accounts, making the movie was not a happy experience for the filmmakers, due to frequent studio interference. Years later, at a cast reunion appearance in New York City, Trace Beaulieu was asked what the worst movie featured on MST3K was. His reply was, "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie".
The makers of MST3K were so annoyed by their experiences having to work within a major studio on this film that they later parodied the experience on the TV series. In episode 704: "The Incredible Melting Man" the host segments are about Crow's screenplay being purchased by a studio then ruined by the executives (Dr. Forrester and Mother Forrester) as they vainly try to shoot it and screen it for audiences. Series writer and star Mary Jo Pehl would later call the episode an "exercise in healing" after the ordeal of MST3K: The Movie.
A sculpture of the head of TV's Frank appears on door #2 of the "theater tunnel." TV's Frank was a popular character played by Frank Conniff, who left the show after the sixth season.
When Mike Nelson uses the manipulator arms to free the Hubble, not only does the panel say Manos (see above), but when he clicks the button we hear a subtle reworking of Torgo's theme. Torgo was the central character of Manos, The Hands Of Fate and Mike Nelson would often make cameos spoofing Torgo throughout the shows' existence prior to his taking over from Joel Hodgson (the show's creator and star for 4 and a half seasons).
Tom Servo says, "Oh, they're flying into a Roger Dean album cover." Roger Dean designed many of Yes's album covers, starting with 1972's "Fragile," many of which look like the scene in "This Island Earth" that Mike and the bots were watching at the time.
The original DVD release had no special features and was withdrawn from circulation in 2000. However in 2003 on the 7th anniversary of the movie's premiere (19 April 1996) an unknown Internet fan released a Special Edition DVD. This two disc set has the widescreen version of the film, the theatrical trailer, TV spots, a review from E!, a slideshow presentation from the 1996 MST3K convention and the cut host segment & alternate ending.
The German version of MST3K was translated by the German TV comedian Oliver Kalkofe. Many jokes were changed to jokes about German tv shows and stars. Kalkofe even added some new jokes.
The "hard copy of the status report" that Mike is reading at the beginning of the film is actually a copy of "Satellite News" the official newsletter of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 information club.
Most of the puppeteering for Gypsy was actually done by Patrick Brantseg (who would later take over both the puppeteering and voice in the TV series) and the voice was dubbed in later by Jim Mallon. This was so Mallon could focus on directing the scene rather than operating the puppet.
Quotes: 1. Tom Servo: "This Island Earth can be yours IF the price is right!" 2. Mike: "Boy, the landlady's gonna be mad." Tom Servo: "Are you boys cooking up there?" Mike: "No." Tom Servo: "Are you making an interositor?" Mike: "No!" 3. Cal Meecham: [reading from the iterociter handbook] "Iterociter incorporating planetary generator. Iterociter with voltarator. With astroscope." Mike Nelson: [as Cal turns the book sideways] "Saaaay, Miss Interociter!" 4. Partway into 'This Island Earth', a large manual is delivered to the door: "Oh, the script arrived!"

Actor Ed Oxenbould is obsessed with Australia in the movie and in real life he is from Australia.
Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner both went to Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Carell graduated in 1984 and Garner graduated in 1994.
There is an Easter Egg on the Bluray Disc: Go to the main menu, select "Bonus Features," highlight "Alexander...in Real Life" then press the right arrow on your remote to make a kangaroo appear. Select the kangaroo and it will play an animation of the story "Who's Ready to Take a Dump on the Potty?" narrated by Dick Van Dyke.
In the book, whenever something goes wrong, Alexander vows to move to Australia to get away from everything. In the movie, Alexander is an expert in all things relating to Australia.
Based on the children's book of the same title by Judith Viorst.
The book title and premise is based on a very popular school book by the same name. This book is part of the year 1 australian curriculum.
Denison University got to have a special showing for students only on opening weekend to honor the two Denison stars in this movie Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner.
Kelly tells Ben to "stop drop and roll" when his shirt is on fire. This is shortly after she had met Dick Van Dyke, who appeared for years in fire safety P.S.A.s promoting "stop drop and roll".
The crocodile at Alexander's birthday party is very obviously an alligator. The reason was due to the fact that alligators are far less hostile than crocodiles, and therefore are far less dangerous on set to both handlers and cast/crew.
In House M.D. (2004), when diagnosing Jack's condition, House says that while chicken pox is not so bad for children, in adults it can be "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad" which is almost definitely a reference to the children's book, (later a film by the same name) "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day'.
Throughout the movie, Emily sings "You Can Fly" from Peter Pan (1953). This song is only featured in the Walt Disney cartoon, not the conventional stage musical of the same story, which has "I'm Flying" instead.
Lisa Cholodenko was set to direct the film, but dropped out in February 2013.
The plot is very similar to that of Liar Liar (1997). A boy makes a wish and the wish comes true. Bad things happen to those who were wished upon. The difference is one is a family and one is a husband.
In the first car scene, the song that they are singing is "Whats Up" by 4 Non Blondes.
Dylan Minnette played David Shepherd on ABC's Lost (2004). His character's name in this movie is Anthony Cooper, which is the same name as the character in Lost played by Kevin Tighe.
Quotes: 1. Kelly Cooper: "If you hadn't left the battery out of my car all night Dick van Dyke wouldn't be mad at me Chim Chimminy wants to kill me. Can you imagine?" 2. Alexander Cooper: "It's 12:01 Melvin. It's my birthday. Do you feel alone in the world? I just wish they understood! I just wish they knew what it felt like to have a terrible horrible no good very bad day."

Big Hero 6. 2014, Starring
Ryan Potter as Hiro Hamada, a 14-year-old robotics prodigy. Speaking of the character, co-director Don Hall said "Hiro is transitioning from boy to man, it's a tough time for a kid and some teenagers develop that inevitable snarkiness and jaded attitude. Luckily Ryan is a very likeable kid. So no matter what he did, he was able to take the edge off the character in a way that made him authentic, but appealing".[10][11][12]
Scott Adsit as Baymax, an inflatable robot built by Tadashi as a medical assistant. Hall said "Baymax views the world from one perspective — he just wants to help people, he sees Hiro as his patient". Producer Roy Conli said "The fact that his character is a robot limits how you can emote, but Scott was hilarious. He took those boundaries and was able to shape the language in a way that makes you feel Baymax's emotion and sense of humor. Scott was able to relay just how much Baymax cares".[10][11][13]
Daniel Henney as Tadashi Hamada, Hiro's older brother and Baymax's creator. On Hiro and Tadashi's relationship, Conli said "We really wanted them to be brothers first. Tadashi is a smart mentor. He very subtly introduces Hiro to his friends and what they do at San Fransokyo Tech. Once Hiro sees Wasabi, Honey, GoGo, and even Fred in action, he realizes that there's a much bigger world out there that really interests him".[11][12][14]
T.J. Miller as Fred, a comic-book fan who also plays the mascot at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. Speaking of Miller, Williams said "He's a real student of comedy. There are a lot of layers to his performance, so Fred ended up becoming a richer character than anyone expected", both literally and metaphorically.[10][11][15][16]
Jamie Chung as GoGo, a tough, athletic student. Hall said "She's definitely a woman of few words. We looked at bicycle messengers as inspiration for her character".[10][11][17][18][19]
Damon Wayans, Jr. as Wasabi, a smart, slightly neurotic youth. On the character, co-director Chris Williams said "He's actually the most conservative, cautious—he [sic] the most normal among a group of brazen characters. So he really grounds the movie in the second act and becomes, in a way, the voice of the audience and points out that what they're doing is crazy".[10][11][20]
Génesis Rodríguez as Honey Lemon, a chemistry enthusiast at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. Williams said "She's a glass-is-half-full kind of person. But she has this mad-scientist quality with a twinkle in her eye — there's more to Honey than it seems".[10][11][21]
James Cromwell as Professor Robert Callaghan, the head of a robotics program at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.[11][14] His supervillain alter ego is named Yokai, according to film merchandising.[22]
Alan Tudyk as Alistair Krei, a pioneer entrepreneur, tech guru and the CEO of Krei Tech and is always on the hunt for the next big thing. [11][14]
Maya Rudolph as 'Aunt' Cass Hamada, Hiro and Tadashi's aunt and guardian.[11][14][18]

Storyline: The special bond that develops between plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax, and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes.
Trivia: It is an American 3D computer-animated superhero comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures—the first superhero film in Disney's animated features canon and the 54th overall. The film is inspired by the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name.[6] Directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams, the film tells the story of a young robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada who forms a superhero team to combat a masked villain. The film features the voices of Scott Adsit, Ryan Potter, Daniel Henney, T. J. Miller, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans, Jr., Génesis Rodríguez, Alan Tudyk, James Cromwell, and Maya Rudolph. Big Hero 6 is the first Disney animated film to feature Marvel Comics characters, whose parent company was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2009.[7] Walt Disney Animation Studios created new software technology to produce the film's animated visuals. Big Hero 6 premiered at the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival on October 23, 2014, and at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in 3D on October 31; it was theatrically released in the United States on November 7, 2014. The film was met with both critical and commercial success, grossing over $652 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing animated film of 2014.[9] It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Animated Movie. It also received nominations for the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature, the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, and the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film. Big Hero 6 was released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 24, 2015.

There is a credit for "Caffeinedicator".
According to Scott Watanabe, the movie is set in an alternate future where after the 1906 earthquake, San Francisco was rebuilt by Japanese immigrants using techniques that allow movement and flexibility in a seismic event. After the city was finished being rebuilt, it was renamed San Fransokyo due to it being a city with Japanese and American architecture combined.

Trivia: It is an American 3D computer-animated comedy-drama film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Directed and co-written by Pete Docter, the film is set in the mind of a young girl, Riley Andersen (Kaitlyn Dias), where five personified emotions—Joy (Amy Poehler), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader), and Sadness (Phyllis Smith)—try to lead her through life as she moves with her parents (Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan) to a new city. The film was co-directed and co-written by Ronnie del Carmen and produced by Jonas Rivera, with music composed by Michael Giacchino. Docter first began developing Inside Out in 2009 after noticing changes in his daughter's personality as she grew older. The film's producers consulted numerous psychologists, including Dacher Keltner from the University of California, Berkeley, who helped revise the story emphasizing the neuropsychological findings that human emotions are mirrored in interpersonal relationships and can be significantly moderated by them. After premiering at the 68th Cannes Film Festival in May, Inside Out was released on June 19, 2015. It received universal critical acclaim, with many film critics praising the voice performances (particularly for Poehler, Smith, and Richard Kind), its concept and poignant subject matter. The film grossed $90.4 million in its first weekend—the highest opening for an original title, besting Avatar 's previous record. It has grossed over $449 million worldwide against a budget of $175 million. Spoofs: Chinatown (1974) - A character says "Forget about it, Jake. It's Cloudtown." References: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) - The distinct personalities of the different emotions was inspired by the dwarfs in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Alice in Wonderland (1951) - Bing Bong's cat tail resembles the Cheshire Cat's. Peter Pan (1953) - A poster that says I can fly is shown in the imagination studio. Old Yeller (1957) - Joy and Sadness mention a movie "where the dog dies" a few times. Vertigo (1958) - One of the movie posters inside Riley's nightmare center closely resembles the poster for Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo," which is also set in the San Francisco area. The Great Escape (1963) - When Riley moves into her new room, Anger says "Better get a ball, this is solitary confinement" referencing Steve McQueen's famous character The Cooler Kid who plays baseball with himself in solitary confinement. Sesame Street (1969) (TV Series) - Bing-Bong's legs look exactly like Big Bird's. The Shining (1980) - Broken door scene is referenced. Back to the Future (1985) - Bing Bong watches his hand begin to disappear just as Marty McFly does. My Neighbor Totoro (1988) - The sleeping Jangles has the same position and snoring as Totoro's first appearance. Toy Story (1995) - One of the kids in Riley's class has the same skull shirt Sid has. Toy Story 2 (1999) - Joy & Sadness trying to rescue Bing-Bong without waking the giant clown mirrors the scene from another Pixar film (Toy Story 2) where Woodey and Bullseye try to rescue Woody's arm without waking Al. Osmosis Jones (2001) - Dreams are viewed as movies in both body comedy movies. Finding Nemo (2003) - In Imagination Land by the card house, a box in the background displays a picture of Nemo, with the words "Find Me". Hellboy (2004) - Disgust gets Angry mad so he can activate his pyrokinetic abilities, John Thaddeus Myers did the same thing for Liz in Hellboy. Cars (2006) - Dream Broccoli says "organic" in a similar tone as Fillmore from Cars. Ratatouille (2007) - Colette is seen on a magazine & Remy has a cameo. South Park: Kyle Sucks Cartman's Balls. The Trilogy (2008) (Video) - Imaginationland is part of Riley's mind. Up (2009) - John Ratzenberger voices a construction worker in both Pixar films. Frozen (2013) - Bing bong quotes Olaf "I can't feel my legs". Mumfie's Quest: The Movie (2014). The "Long Term Memory" section of Riley's mind looks identical to the Queen of Night's bottle room in this film. Crazy Credits: a) Dedicated to our children. Don't grow up. Ever. b) During the first half of the end credits, we see inside the minds of other characters in the film, including Riley's teacher, an angry bus driver, and both a cat and a dog. During the credits, the "inside" emotional workings/characters of several minor characters from the film are shown, including Riley's teacher, a bus driver, a dog and a cat. The pizza place "Yeast of Edin" in the movie is based on an actual bakery located by the Pixar Studio, where they only serve one kind of pizza each day and broccoli as one of the toppings. The creators cast Phyllis Smith as Sadness after producer Jonas Rivera saw her performance in Bad Teacher (2011). Flea, bass guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is the voice of Mind Worker Cop Jake. Preceded by the short Lava (2014) in some theaters. Quotes: 1. Joy: "Do you ever look at someone and wonder, "What is going on inside their head?" Well, I know. Okay, I know Riley's head." 2. Anger: [seeing slices of pizza with only broccoli on top] "Congratulations San Francisco, you've ruined Pizza! First the Hawaiians, and now YOU!"

50 Year Old Ghost Story
Composed by Henry Jackman.
Trivia: It is an American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name: Scott Lang and Hank Pym. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the twelfth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Peyton Reed, with a screenplay by Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish and Adam McKay & Paul Rudd, and stars Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip "T.I." Harris, Anthony Mackie, Wood Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, and Michael Douglas. In Ant-Man, Lang must help defend Dr. Pym's Ant-Man technology and plot a heist with worldwide ramifications. Development of Ant-Man began in April 2006, with the hiring of Wright to direct and co-write with Cornish. By April 2011, Wright and Cornish had completed three drafts of the script and Wright shot test footage for the film in July 2012. Pre-production began in October 2013 after being put on hold so that Wright could complete The World's End. Casting began in December 2013, with the hiring of Rudd to play Lang. In May 2014, Wright left the project, citing creative differences, though he still received screenplay and story credits with Cornish, as well as an executive producer credit. The following month, Reed was brought in as Wright's replacement, while McKay was hired to contribute to the script with Rudd. Principal photography took place between August and December 2014 in San Francisco and Metro Atlanta. Ant-Man held its world premiere in Los Angeles on June 29, 2015, and was released in North America on July 17, 2015, in 3D and IMAX 3D. Upon its release, the film received positive reviews and has grossed over $226 million worldwide. Filming locations

Trivia: It is an American romantic drama film directed by R. J. Cutler, based on the novel of the same name by Gayle Forman. The film stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Mireille Enos, Jamie Blackley, Joshua Leonard, Stacy Keach, and Aisha Hinds. It was released on August 22, 2014 and received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $78.3 million worldwide. Filming locations: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, University of British Columbia, 6265 Crescent Road, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (Performance Hall); Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.
Chloë Grace Moretz had to learn how to play cello. She was not a successful cello player, so they had a double play the cello and then added Chloë's head into the frame.
The source novel has a companion volume "Where She Went," told from Adam's perspective.
Jamie Blackley had recorded all of his songs and sang them live.
Chloë Grace Moretz, who had short blonde hair at the time, wore a wig to fit the role of the movie.
In the book Adam's band was named "Shooting Star". But in the movie the band was named "Willamette Stone".
Set in Portland, Oregon, all filming was done in Vancouver, British Columbia, which is across the bay from Vancouver Island, home of BC's capital Victoria. If that's not confusing enough, Portland has a river border with Vancouver, Washington, named for the same 18th-century British sea captain. The fact that so many locations on both sides of the USA-Canada border have the word Vancouver in the name, is a source of considerable frustration to many residents therein.(???)
The screenplay for this film was featured in the 2009 Blacklist; a list of the "most liked" unmade scripts of the year.
In the book Teddy was in a separate hospital than Mia but in the movie they were both in the same hospital. Quotes: 1. Denny: "Sometimes you make choices in life, and sometimes choices make you." 2. Adam: "Your parents seem pretty cool." Mia Hall: "So they tell me."

Storyline: The life of a time-traveling Temporal Agent. On his final assignment, he must pursue the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time.
Trivia: It is an Australian science fiction mystery thriller film written and directed by Michael and Peter Spierig. The film is based on the Robert A. Heinlein short story "'—All You Zombies—'", and stars Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook, and Noah Taylor. Predestination received generally positive reviews from critics, while Sarah Snook received overwhelming universal acclaim for her performance. Filming locations: Docklands Studios, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (studio); Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Filming predominantly occurred at the Docklands Studios Melbourne facility, located approximately 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) from the city of Melbourne's Central Business District (CBD). Scenes from the film were shot at the Abbotsford Convent, located in the inner-city Melbourne suburb of Abbotsford, and at the RMIT Design Hub.
Features: Bewitched (1964) (TV Series) - Playing on TV.
This story is told by Dr. Michio Kaku, on October 28, 2009 at Queensborough Community College. As the mother of all time travel stories on his "The World in 2030" lecture. You can find the video on web.
If you look closely at the newspaper article text in the beginning of the movie the paragraphs are the same for each article, only the headlines changes.
Ethan Hawke and Spierig brothers have previously worked together on Daybreakers
Some scenes were filmed at the Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne, Australia.
This is The first Spierig brothers film in 5 years following Daybreakers which followed a 6 year gap between their first film Undead.
When Jane enters the bar and starts her story, her lighter doesn't work. The bartender then lights her cigarette. He has the same lighter, denoting they are the same person.
At the beginning of the movie when he sees his new face for the first time he says "I've changed so much. I doubt my own mother would recognize me.." and laughs, which is ironic since he/she is his/her own mother.
When Jane, now John, reapplies to Space Corp as an astronaut, the doctor who examines him closely resembles Robert Heinlein, the author of the short story source for the film, and is listed as Doctor Heinlein in the credits.
At the end when Ethan goes back to the bar, the owner is arguing at the Jukebox. As Ethan says, "I quit", the song playing is "I'm my own grandpa", alluding to his character throughout the movie. This song is also referenced in the short story in which it is based on.
The bartender's attempted joke about "What comes first, the chicken or the egg" Is foreshadowing the relationship between himself, John, and Jane.
Sarah Snook spent 4 and a half hours every morning in the make-up chair being turned into John.
Based on Robert A Heinlein's story "All You Zombies".
At the end of the movie, John Doe says via inner dialogue "The snake that eats it's own tail, forever and ever. I know where I come from. Where do all you zombies come, from?" A clear reference to the inspiration for the story "All You Zombies"
When the main characters meet for the first time in the bar, Ethan Hawke's character has the "LADIES" bathroom sign shown behind him. (foreshadowing that they are both 'ladies')
The Fizzle Bomb timer discovered at the bomb site is a Sparkfun Arduino Pro Mini 328, which as shown (with some connections destroyed) could serve its intended purpose.
Noah Taylor's third appearance as a "supervisor" of a time traveler. He played similar roles as tech support Edmund Ventura in Vanilla Sky (2001), and Dr. Carter in Edge of Tomorrow (2014).
In the early bar scenes when Ethan Hawke is talking to John, each time the camera looks at Ethan, the angle changes slightly. Sometimes the "Gentlemen" restroom sign is over his head and sometimes it's "Ladies", foreshadowing the final plot twist.
The Jukebox plays "I'm My Own Grandpa" several times, foreshadowing the plot twist at the end.
When John Doe sits down at the manual typewriter for the first time, beside the typewriter there is a copy of "Stranger in a Strange Land " by Robert Heinlein, who is the author of the original short story, All You Zombies, on which the screenplay for the film is based.
(At around 8 mins) When Ethan Hawke looks at his watch, his real birthday is shown.
The picture of the Crosby Shoes building in the beginning of the movie is actually a picture of the exploded reactor number 4 from Chernobyl Power Plant which erupted on 26th of April 1986.
An additional Heinlein reference - when John is at the store purchasing the typewriter, the saleswoman is holding "the moon is a harsh mistress" - also a Heinlein story.
Quotes: 1. The Bartender: "The only thing that I know for sure, is that you are the best thing that's ever happened to me." The Bartender: "You know who she is, And you understand who you are, And now maybe you're ready to understand who I am." 2. The Unmarried Mother: "You're not how I imagined you'd look." Jane: "Do I know you?" The Unmarried Mother: "You're beautiful. Someone should have told you that." Jane: "Well, you just did." Anachronisms: 1. The year 1974 can be seen in the electronics shop invoice (at around 1h 24mins), indicating that the chip used for the bomb was purchased then and not brought from the future. But the chip is an Arduino Pro Mini, which won't exist until 2006. 2. In the first scene which shows cars on the street driving this scene is meant to be the early 1970s but a 1979 Grand Prix drives by. 3. (at around 1h 20 mins) There are modern stereo headphones on the table in 1975.

Trivia: It is the collective title of three films written and directed by Ned Benson. The films star Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy, and is Benson's first feature film project. The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby is broken into three films, Him, Her, and Them. Him and Her were screened at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival as a "work in progress". Them premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Them premiered in the United States on September 12, 2014, while Him and Her was released together as a double feature on October 10, 2014 in select art house cinemas. Jessica Chastain said about filming love scenes with her co-star James McAvoy: "I actually had trouble keeping a straight face! He is very funny". The movie's name is based on "Eleanor Rigby", a song by the English band The Beatles. Filming Locations: New York City, New York, USA. Edited from The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him (2013) - "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them" is an edited version from both "Him" and "Her" original director's cut. Quotes: 1. Eleanor Rigby: "We'll never get to where we were." Conor Ludlow: "Where was that?" Eleanor Rigby: [Eleanor grins] "Someplace good." 2. Professor Friedman: "I don't really know who you are." Eleanor Rigby: "It's OK, neither do I."

This is the second Nicholas Sparks film involving James Marsden. The first being The Notebook wherein he portrayed Lon Hammond.
This the 9th film adapted from a Nicholas Sparks novel of the same title.
The house where Tuck lives is the same house where Zac and Taylor lived in the movie The Lucky One (2010).
In the film it's Dawson's cousin who he accidentally kills. But in the books it's the local doctor of the town, whom he kills in an unfortunate car accident. And again in the books it's the deceased doctors wife who Dawson sends money too every month.
Luke Bracey was 25 when filming this and Liana Liberato was 19.
Every dress (except the last) that the character of Amanda wears (even as an adult) has an open back.
Quotes: 1. Amanda: "You want me to fall back in love with you? How do I do that if I haven't ever stopped?" 2. Amanda: "This is dangerous, we've had wine, and you somehow have gotten better looking which is so annoying. I mean you couldn't have gotten bald or fat or something?"

Trivia: It is an American black comedy film directed by Sean Anders and written by Anders and John Morris. A sequel to 2011's Horrible Bosses, the film stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx, Chris Pine, and Christoph Waltz. It was released on November 26, 2014 by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film received "mixed or average" reviews, but was a moderate box office success, grossing over $106 million worldwide. Filming locations: Los Angeles and Burbank, California, USA; Village Market - 11653 Moorpark St, North Hollywood, California, USA (Buying supplies while parked outside the dental office); 52 Discovery Drive, Irvine, California, USA (Boulder Stream Headquarters).
Just like in the first movie, outtakes and bloopers are shown at the beginning of the closing credits.
References: Nine to Five (1980) - Nick, Kurt, Dale and Jones all have a conversation about this movie.
The Untouchables (1987) - When they're doing the brainstorm to the kidnap, Kurt says the quote from Robert de Niro as Al Capone. "I want him dead, I want his family dead..."
Predator (1987) - Rex owns a prop from the film Predator, which leads other characters to have multiple conversations about the film.
Predator 2 (1990) - Kurt states that he, "Likes Predator, too", but then clarifies he meant that he likes the first Predator film also, not that he likes the sequel.
Fight Club (1999) - When Rex starts hitting himself, Kurt says "We have a fightclubber!".
Sudeikis stated in an interview that they wanted to put a gag in the film, where Jamie Fox's Character says to the Nick, Kurt, and Dale , "You crackers got to go. I have three other crackers coming in", and as the trio get up to leave, the three characters from The Hangover movies come and sit at the booth. They later decided against it, because it would take the audience out of the movie. Zack Galifianakis and Ed Helms (Alan and Stu from the Hangover Films) later heard about this and thought the idea was hilarious.
This is the first sequel Jennifer Aniston has ever done in her entire career.
This is the second film to co-star Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz. They previously appeared together in Django Unchained (2012).
Tommy Lee Jones and Jack Nicholson were considered for the role that went to Christoph Waltz
The cast has a total of five Academy awards thanks to one from Jamie Foxx (Ray), two from Kevin Spacey (The Usual Suspects, American Beauty), and two from Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained).
This is the fourth time Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman have worked together. They previously starred in The Break-Up, Switch and Horrible Bosses.
Chris Pine's character name (Rex Hanson) and several T-Rex props throughout the movie are used in reference to the movie This Means War (2012), in which is said that Chris Pine character, FDR Foster, has small, T-Rex like, hands.
Among the three lead stars, Charlie Day is the only actor that didn't have Jennifer Aniston as his leading lady (Sudeikis, We're the Millers (2013) and Bateman, The Switch (2012)).
This is the fourth film Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston have done together. The first 3 being: The Bounty Hunter (2010), Horrible Bosses (2011) and We're the Millers (2013).
Second movie in 2014 that Chris Pine punches himself in the face, the other one being Stretch (2014).
This is the second film to co-star Jason Sudeikis and Christoph Waltz. The two previously provided voice work in 'Epic (2013)'.
This is the second film to co-star Jason Bateman and Jonathan Banks. They previously worked together in the hit comedy Identity Thief (2013).
Third collaboration with Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day. The first two were Going the Distance (2010) and Horrible Bosses (2011).
In the scene where Nick, Kurt and Dale are visiting Kevin Spacey's character in prison, he refers to them as "piss ant little F-ups." This is similar to A Bug's Life (1998), in which Spacey provides the voice of the grasshopper whose character also talks down on the ants in a similar fashion.
Though they share no scenes, this is the second project Kevin Spacey(Dave Harken) and Jonathan Banks(Detective Hatcher) have worked on together. They previously co-starred in Wiseguy(1987).
When Nick, Kurt, and Dale are in the office arguing about "Kidnaping." You can see a schematic of the Shower Buddy on top of the table in the shape of the USS Enterprise. This is a homeage to Chris Pine (Rex) who has starred in both Star Trek movies.
Shipped to theaters under the name "Backstab".
The name Nick gives to Julia, Blanston, is an homage to a Steve Martin stand-up bit where he claimed his real name was Gern Blanston.
Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Kevin Spacey are all Academy Award Winners. Quote: Bert Hanson: "I hate to break it to you, but the American dream is in China."
