Quote: David Norris: What ever happened to Free Will? Thompson: We actually tried Free Will before. After taking you from hunting and gathering to the height of the Roman Empire we stepped back to see how you'd do on your own. You gave us the Dark Ages for five centuries... until finally we decided we should come back in. The Chairman thought maybe we just needed to do a better job of teaching you how to ride a bike before taking the training wheels off again. So we gave you the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the Scientific Revolution. For six hundred years we taught you to control your impulses with reason, then in 1910 we stepped back. Within fifty years, you'd brought us World War I, the Depression, Fascism, the Holocaust and capped it off by bringing the entire planet to the brink of destruction in the Cuban Missile Crisis. At that point a decision was taken to step back in again before you did something that even we couldn't fix. You don't have free will, David. You have the appearance of free will. Trivia: 1. The names of the three main members of the Adjustment Bureau are Thompson, Richardson, and Harry: a play on the term Tom, Dick, and Harry, which is slang for any anonymous persons. 2. The phone number given to Matt Damon by Emily Blunt in the movie ((212) 664-7665) is owned by Universal Studios and has appeared in other films distributed by the company (Definitely, Maybe, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) in an effort to avoid the much overused "555" prefix. If called, it will ring indefinitely. 3. Jon Stewart, Chuck Scarborough, James Carville, Betty Liu, Mary Matalin, Jesse Jackson, Wolf Blitzer, and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg all have cameos as themselves.

Trivia: Susan Sarandon was initially reluctant to tackle the role of the grieving mother in the film as she's played similar parts in recent years, most notably in Moonlight Mile and In the Valley of Elah. She was impressed with writer-director Shana Feste's eccentric script, and the fact that the film would shoot close to her New York City-area home on a quick 28-day schedule was also appealing. Still, it took a phone call from Pierce Brosnan (who had just signed on to co-star) to finally convince her to commit to the film.

The U.S. Army was actually very helpful and cooperative during filming, which surprised Ivan Reitman since the script depicts the military as being made up largely of buffoons. 4. John Winger states, after doing push-ups in his apartment, "I gotta get in shape or I'll be dead before I'm 30". Bill Murray was 31 when this movie was filmed. 5. 'Do Wah Diddy Diddy', a central theme performed by cast members, was originally recorded in the US by The Exciters in late 1963. During "The British Invasion" it was covered by Manfred Mann and rose to #1 US Pop in July 1964. The song has become a popular cadence in the US military. 6. Winger throws the keys to his cab into the Ohio River from the same bridge where boxing great Muhammad Ali claims to have thrown his Olympic gold medal. 7. Basic training in Stripes takes place at the fictional "Fort Arnold" which was actually a fort during 18th century. It was named for General Benedict Arnold. After General Arnold was branded a traitor "Fort Arnold" was renamed "West Point". Quote: Recruiter: Have you ever been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor? That's robbery, rape, car theft, that sort of thing. John Winger: Convicted? No. Russell Ziskey: Never convicted. Anachronisms: 1. Soviet officer is wearing a uniform from the late-1940s. 2. The manual for the EM-50 that Harold Ramis' character is reading in the hangar states the manual is from the Department of War instead of saying Department of Defense. The Department of War existed from 1789-1947.

Fubar is a mockumentary film, directed by Michael Dowse, based on the lives of two lifelong friends and headbangers living out their lives, constantly drinking beer. Fubar debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in the 'Park City at Midnight' category, which previously launched such films as The Blair Witch Project. Since its release, it has gained critical acclaim and a cult status in North America, but especially within Western Canada. It was both filmed and set in Alberta, particularly in and around Calgary. 2. It was filmed entirely with digital cinematography, on a shoestring budget that required many involved with the project to max out their credit cards in order to complete the movie (according to an interview on their official website). 3. Many of the people featured in the movie (including the fist-fighters) were bystanders who thought that the filmmakers were shooting a documentary on the common man. 4. Fubar features characters partly based on a comedy routine performed by David Lawrence and Paul Spence that they developed based on the head-banger subculture. David Lawrence, Paul Spence and S.C. Lim also appear in Michael Dowse's movie, It's All Gone Pete Tong. (Dr. S.C. Lim plays himself in Fubar as Dean's doctor. Lim actually is Michael Dowse's doctor.) The characters of Terry and Dean were later seen again, featured in the Michael Dowse-directed music video "The Slow Descent Into Alcoholism" by The New Pornographers. 5. It was reported in April 2009 that funding had been secured for a sequel. Fubar 2 was filmed in Edmonton, Alberta. Director Michael Dowse reported that the plot involves Terry and Dean moving to Fort McMurray, Alberta. Once again the dialogue is heavily improvised, and the budget is "a lot more" than the first film. The sequel premiered at the 2010 Toronto Film festival. Storyline: This is the story of two lifelong friends, Terry (David Lawrence) and Dean (Paul Spence), who have grown up together: Shotgunning their first beers, forming their first garage band, and growing the great Canadian mullet known as "Hockey Hair". The lives of these Alberta everymen are brought to the big screen by documentarian Farrel Mitchner (Gordon Skilling), a young director who decides to take a look at Terry and Dean through a lens, exploring the depths of friendship, the fragility of life, growing up gracefully, and the art and science of drinking beer "like a man". Their lives are complicated by a snubbing by their "party leader" Troy, better known as Tron (Andrew Sparacino). When Farrel discovers that Dean is hiding a serious case of testicular cancer, the wheels are set in motion for Dean to seek treatment from Dr. S.C. Lim (Dr. S.C. Lim). With Dean's last weekend before surgery approaching, Terry decides to take Dean, Farrel and the film crew camping. Things take an unexpected turn by the third day, and Terry and Dean must cope with further tragedy.

It was written and directed by Sylvester Stallone, and was given the green light by Universal Pictures after Stallone's success with 1976's Rocky. Stallone also stars as Cosmo, one of the brothers, and sings the film's title song. 2. A number of professional wrestlers appeared, including Terry Funk as the foil to the hero. Cameos include Ted DiBiase, Bob Roop, Dick Murdoch, Dory Funk Jr., Don Leo Jonathan, Don Kernodle, Gene Kiniski, Dennis Stamp, Ray Stevens and Uliuli Fifita. Wresting Choreography is by Terry Funk. 3. Playwright and screenwriter John Monks Jr appears as Mickey the bartender. 4. Directing was such a new job to Stallone on this project that several times, cast and crew were in position, ready to do their jobs but they could not. They could not because Stallone would forget to yell, "Action." 6. Sylvester Stallone told People magazine that his original idea for this script was to make all the main characters African-American. He could not find the financing for the film until he starred in it himself and changed the other characters to Italian-Americans. 7. Tom Waits' acting debut. 8. Originally, Stallone wanted Al Pacino to play Lenny Carboni. 8. Sylvester Stallone actually wrote this before Rocky and tried to sell it to producers for years, to no avail. Once Rocky became a smash hit, producers were willing to look at the script. Anachronism: When Cosmo talks with Annie for the first time on the street, a 1970s station wagon passes by in the background.

The storyline was conceived from a screenplay written by James Schamus, based on a book entitled Woe to Live On, by author Daniel Woodrell. The events portrayed in the novel and movie take place in Missouri, amidst escalating guerrilla warfare at the onset of the American Civil War. Within the film, a loose dramatization of the Lawrence Massacre is depicted. Incorporated in the plot is the character of Jake Roedel, played by actor Tobey Maguire. Roedel, a Southern militiaman, joins a group of marauders known as the Bushwhackers. The gang attempt to disrupt and marginalize the political activities of Northern Jayhawkers allied with Union soldiers. An ensemble cast starring Skeet Ulrich, Jeffrey Wright, Jonathan Brandis, James Caviezel and musician Jewel also feature. Anachronisms: 1. Civil-war era skirts did not have even one in-seam pocket, let alone two. Fancy Chatelaines were used to hold purses and other items by the wealthier women, and the poorer classes made do with cloth pockets suspended from a strap that was pinned to the waistband. Flat surface pockets came in after the closing of the civil war. 2. In the very last scene, as Holt is riding away you can see three flashes of light in the sky - landing lights from planes circling a nearby airport. 3. After German boy is told his father was killed, there is a brief scene of a woman standing in a doorway. The door has modern day machine-made lace.

Quote: Luther: Nice landing. Alice: I think technically it's called crashing. (Another quote has Alice listing the Pacific west coast cities that she and Claire will pass by on their way south from Alaska. The first one she mentions is Prince Rupert, British Columbia, where some good friends of mine live). Anachronism: The inside of the Arcadia does quite obviously not match the exterior of the vessel in neither size nor shape.

Wait Until Dark. 1967, Starring Audrey Hepburn as Susy Hendrix, Alan Arkin as Roat/Roat Jr./Roat Sr., Richard Crenna as Mike Talman, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as Sam Hendrix, Jack Weston as Carlino, Samantha Jones as Lisa, Julie Herrod as Gloria, Robby Benson as Boy Tossing Ball, Jean Del Val as The Old Man, Mel Ferrer as French-Canadian Radio Speaker (voice) (also Producer), Gary Morgan as Teenage Boy on Street, Frank O'Brien as Shatner and Bill Walters as BG with Dog. Actor Robby Benson makes his first film appearance in "Wait Until Dark". At age 10, he appears uncredited as a boy tossing a football in an early airport scene. 4. In an effort to duplicate the suspense on screen, movie theaters dimmed their lights to their legal limits, then turned them off one by one until each light on-screen was shattered, resulting in the theater being plunged into complete darkness. 5. During World War II, 16-year-old Audrey Hepburn was a volunteer nurse in a Dutch hospital. During the battle of Arnhem, Hepburn's hospital received many wounded Allied soldiers. One of the injured soldiers young Audrey helped nurse back to health was a young British paratrooper, and future director, named Terence Young who more than 20 years later directed Hepburn in Wait Until Dark.

Trivia: 1. The film was written by the writers of That '70s Show and directed by Michael Dowse. 2. The title of this movie is a reference to the eponymous Eddie Money/Ronnie Spector song, which appeared on Money's 1986 album 'Can't Hold Back'. The song also plays during the trailer for the movie. 3. During the film, the characters make it known that they live in Los Angeles, but the movie was actually filmed in its entirety in Phoenix, Paradise Valley, and Scottsdale, AZ. 4. Being a big fan of The Terminator and Aliens, Topher Grace personally called Michael Biehn and offered him the role of his father. 5. Anna Faris who plays Wendy is married to Chris Pratt who plays Kyle. 6. The number Tori gives Matt at the end of the film, 818-404-7327, is an out IOC service number to NBC/Universal studios. Anachronisms: 1. When Matt Franklin (Topher Grace) gives his speech before entering the ball, in the crowd is a party-goer wearing an Adidas beanie with the modern 3 sloped bars logo. The film is set in 1988, but the modern Adidas logo wasn't designed until 1990. 2. Tori lists Purple Rain as her favorite album in the yearbook. While the album and movie were both released in 1984 when they graduated high school, they were released on June 25 and July 27 respectively, both of which are dates after when they would have graduated. 3. In the Suncoast video store there is a copy of RAT. This film was released in 2000. 4. There is a scene where Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" is playing prominently, but the album came out in September 1989. The film takes place on a night in 1988. 5. After Matt shows off his impressive math skills, Carlos says that he's "like having Rain Man on the floor, except you can touch him", comparing Matt to Ray Babbitt in the movie "Rain Man". This conversation takes place on Labor Day (September) of 1988, yet "Rain Man" wasn't released until December of 1988. 6. When Barry is fired and gets into Mike's sister's car, as they pull out immediately behind them is a Porsche 928 GTS - this model wasn't available until 1992; the correct model should have been an S4. The GTS model has a band of red reflector across the rear connecting the light clusters. The S4 (correct car for 1988) has none. 7. Before Matt and Barry steal the Mercedes, there is a Nissan Dealer visible in the background with the companies new logo which was not used until 2001. 8. Several cars at the parties have visible license plates that start with the number 4 (as in 4ABC000). In California, standard numeric plates only reached the first digit of 3 as of 1993. 9. In the 1984 yearbook, there's a photo of ALF. ALF didn't air until 1986. 10. In the beginning of the film when they are at Suncoast Video, the VHS box for the film "Twins" appears on a wall behind Topher Grace. This film takes place in early September 1988 and "Twins" wasn't released theatrically until December 1988. The EARLIEST "Twins" would have been released on home video is summer 1989.

Trivia: 1. The author, David Seidler suffered from a stammer as a child. Having heard George VI's wartime speech as a child, he (later in his adult life) had written to the Queen Mother asking for permission to use the King's story to create a film. The Queen Mother asked him not to during her lifetime, citing that the memories were too painful. Seidler respected her request. 2. Throughout the film, Lionel refuses to let Bertie smoke, saying "sucking smoke into your lungs will kill you." Owing largely to increased smoking to deal with the stress of World War Two, King George VI did indeed succumb to lung cancer on February 6th 1952. 3. This film has an Australian actor (Guy Pearce) playing a Brit, a British actor (Eve Best) playing an American and an American actor (Jennifer Ehle) playing an Australian. 4. As this movie is an Australian co-production, it was the first ever Australian film to win the Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Picture. 5. The film depicts the last four British monarchs from the House of Windsor: King George V (1910-1936) played by Michael Gambon, King Edward VIII (1936-1936) played by Guy Pearce, King George VI (1936-1952) played by Colin Firth and Queen Elizabeth II (1952-present) as a child, played by Freya Wilson. 6. The film was given an R rating by the MPAA, due entirely to the scenes where Albert/King George VI curses as part of his speech therapy or preparation for the climactic address. Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein appealed the ruling but were denied, and they later submitted a cut of the film without some of the profanity that was indeed given a PG-13 rating. However, the R version is considered the Oscar-winning one, and thus extended a string of R-rated Best Pictures that runs from 2005-2010. Quote: Lionel Logue: Please don't smoke. I believe sucking cigarette smoke into your lungs will kill you. King George VI: I need to relax. My physicians say it relaxes the throat. Lionel Logue: They're idiots. King George VI: They've all been knighted. Lionel Logue: [sarcastic] Makes it official then. Storyline: The story of King George VI of Britain, his impromptu ascension to the throne and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch become worthy of it. Anachronisms: 1. The Duchess of York's hat at Balmoral was not her fashion until the war years, (based on the Royal Air force themes). 2 The kilt worn by Colin Firth is not in the traditional Scottish Balmoral tartan but instead a modern Irish County Kerry one designed in 1997. The Royals have never worn such a tartan. 3. Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin was, in the style of the day, referred to as "Prime Minister Mr. Baldwin", not "Prime Minister Baldwin", which is a far more modern turn of phrase. 4. In a brief scene at the end of the film, a group of soldiers are listening to the speech as broadcast. They are wearing the cap badge of The Queen's Regiment; however, the badge in their caps is that of the pre-1922 pattern, a paschal lamb with a scroll 'The Queen's' beneath. This changed in 1922 to a larger paschal lamb with no scroll. 5. In the conversation with Bertie after delivering the Christmas proclamation, King George V refers to Joseph Stalin as "Marshal Stalin". In reality, Stalin was awarded the title of "Marshal of the Soviet Union" in March 1943 after the conclusion of the Battle of Stalingrad and more than 7 years after the death of George V. 6. The Tiger Moth aircraft, although of the period, bears a registration (G-ANFM) awhich was allocated in 1953. 7. When the newsreel about the Coronation ends, it is immediately followed by a report of a big outdoor Nazi rally with Adolf Hitler taking the salute, and then by footage of Hitler addressing an audience indoors. The second Hitler scene comes from at least four years earlier when he was still trying to appeal for votes. 8. It is very unlikely that Logue's boys would be making plastic models in the mid to late 1930s. Scale modeling then was done in balsa wood. Just before WW II, plastic models (made of a different plastic than used now) became available for a short time, but were removed from the market for wartime production of other items. 9. The film's portrayal of the Duke's daughters Princess Elizabeth (later Elizabeth II) and Princess Margaret before his treatment began would have been an anachronism; the former would have been a six months old baby in October 1926, while the latter was not born until 1930.

The Fourth Kind. 2009 (mockumentary science fiction-thriller), Starring Milla Jovovich as Dr. Abigail "Abbey" Tyler/Herself, Charlotte Milchard as the 'real' Dr. Abigail Tyler, Elias Koteas as Dr. Abel Campos, Will Patton as Sheriff August, Corey Johnson as Tommy Fisher, Hakeem Kae-Kazim as Awolowa Odusami, Enzo Cilenti as Scott Stracinsky, Eric Loren as Deputy Ryan, Raphaël Coleman as Ronnie Tyler, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Ashley Tyler, Olatunde Osunsanmi as Interviewer (also "Director" Olatunde Osunsanmi), Daphne Alexander as Theresa, Alisha Seaton as Cindy Stracinski, Tyne Rafaeli as Sarah Fisher, Pavel Stefanov as Timothy Fisher, Kiera McMaster as Joe Fisher, Sara Houghton as Jessica, Julian Vergov as Will Tyler, Yoan Karamfilov as Ralph; Nome Residents: Valentin Ganev, Vladimir Kolev, Jay Glenn Sunberg and Sylvia Loulcheva; Mike Straub as Archive Deputy Ryan and Andrew Whipp as Archive Tommy Fisher. Movie Central, February 24, 2012. Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi; Writing credits (WGA): Olatunde Osunsanmi - (screenplay); Olatunde Osunsanmi - (story) & Terry Lee Robbins (story). Trivia: The title is derived from the expansion of J. Allen Hynek's classification of close encounters with aliens, in which the fourth kind denotes alien abductions. Chapman University hosts a televised interview with psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Charlotte Milchard & Milla Jovovich). She tells a story of a close encounter incident at Nome, Alaska, in October 2000. Storyline: The film purports to be based on actual events occurring in Nome, Alaska in 2000, in which psychologist Dr. Abigail Emily "Abbey" Tyler uses hypnosis to uncover memories from her patients of alien abduction, and finds evidence suggesting that she may have been abducted as well. The film has two components: dramatization, in which professional actors portray the individuals involved, and video footage purporting to show the actual victims undergoing hypnosis. (At some points in the film, the "actual" and dramatized footage is presented alongside each other in split-screen.) Throughout the film, Abbey is shown being interviewed on television during 2002, two years after the abductions occurred. The movie is set up as a re-enactment of the original documentary footage. It also uses "never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film." Trivia: 1. All the "original documentary footage" was shot by the filmmakers as part of the production. All the people in the "original documentary footage" were paid actors. 2. The "real" Dr. Abigail Tyler is played by actress Charlotte Milchard. Dr. Tyler is not based on a real person. 3.The Fourth Kind was shot in Bulgaria and Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. The lush, mountainous setting of the Nome in the film bears little resemblance to the actual Nome, Alaska, which sits amidst flat tree-less tundra on the shore of the Bering Sea. 4. The film was a box office success, earning US$47.46 million worldwide, from an estimated $10 million budget. 5. According to promotional materials from Universal, the film is framed around a psychologist named Abigail Tyler who interviewed traumatized patients in Nome. However Alaska state licensing examiner Jan Mays says she can't find records of an Abigail Tyler ever being licensed in any profession in Alaska. Ron Adler, CEO and director of the Alaska Psychiatric Institute and Denise Dillard, president of the Alaska Psychological Association say they've never heard of Abigail Tyler. Web sites for an "Alaska Psychiatry Journal" and "Alaska News Archive" containing references to Tyler were created by the film's producers, but were outed as hoaxes when it was discovered they were registered a month before the film's release and the purported author of one of the archived news articles stated she had never written it. 6. The movie's hoaxed interviews have angered the families of real missing persons in and around Nome, Alaska, for trivializing their loss. Melanie Edwards, Vice President of Kawerak Inc. (an organization representing tribal peoples in Alaska), described the movie as "insensitive to family members of people who have gone missing in Nome over the years". Universal has refused to discuss the movie with that organization or with local journalists. 7. The end credits do not include the usual "The events and persons depicted in this film are fictitious..." or "The film is based on the real events..." section. 8. The habitual soundtrack used for the ending credits of the movies is changed by diverse audio tracks where people call to the police explaining their UFO's sightings. Quote: [first lines] Abbey Tyler: I'm actress Milla Jovovich, and I will be portraying Dr. Abigail Tyler in The Fourth Kind. This film is a dramatization of events that occurred October 1st through the 9th of 2000, in the Northern Alaskan town of Nome. To better explain the events of this story, the director has included actual archived footage throughout the film. This footage was acquired from Nome psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler, who has personally documented over 65 hours of video and audio materials during the time of the incidents. To better protect their privacy, we have changed the names and professions of many of the people involved. Every dramatized scene in this movie is supported by either archived audio, video or as it was related by Dr. Tyler during extensive interviews with the director. In the end, what you believe is yours to decide. Please be advised, that some of what you're about to see is extremely disturbing.

Trivia: 1. All the webcam and narration scenes were shot in one day. Emma Stone had a 14-hour day of simply staring at a camera doing every single webcam and narration for the entire movie and every so often she would have to walk around outside to stretch her muscles from sitting so long. Emma Stone's audition was her opening webcam scene. 2. When Olive goes to the foreign cinema, Rhiannon's parents are visible in the background. 3. The screenplay was partially inspired by the novel The Scarlet Letter. The film was a box office success and received critical acclaim, particularly for Emma Stone's performance. 4. The woman and two kids in the ice cream shop when Olive is talking to Evan are actually the wife and kids of director Will Gluck. 5. In almost every scene there is an Orange or Oranges. In the commentary for the film the director said he did this to be "artistic". 6. In the end credits, as the camera continues down the street, at the end, you can see a City of Ojai police officer stopping traffic from the opposite end to allow the filming. 7. During the montage scene Chris gives Olive movie passes worth $40, which she mentions will expire in her voice-over. Per California law since 1997 gift certificates cannot expire.

Michael Biehn was considered for the role of Col. Quaritch. James Cameron rejected him because he'd already cast Sigourney Weaver, and he didn't want people to think it was Aliens all over again. 2. In much of the movie, Sigourney Weaver's avatar wears a Stanford tank top. Weaver attended Stanford in the early 1970s. 3. Matt Damon and Jake Gyllenhaal were the studio's first choice to play Jake Sully, but James Cameron decided to cast an unknown Sam Worthington in the lead role. 4. First movie to ever cross the US$ 2,000,000,000 mark worldwide (and later the US$ 2.5 billion mark), making it the highest grossing film in history. 5. (Original TV Series Theme)(Barry Gray) - Arrangement by Ramin Djawadi & Hans Zimmer, Courtesy of Universal Pictures Music; "Thunderbirds Are Go" - Written by Barry Gray, James Bourne, Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and Tom Fletcher, Performed by Busted, Courtesy of Universal/Island Records Ltd. Trivia: 1. Science-fiction adventure film loosely based upon the 1960s television series of the same name, directed by Jonathan Frakes. The film uses live-action actors playing the Tracy brothers rather than the Supermarionation marionettes used in the television series. 2. The film's soundtrack features the song "Thunderbirds" by boyband Busted which reached number one in the UK charts and later won the 2004 Record of the Year award. 3. As the young Thunderbirds prepare to launch towards The Bank of London with Lady Penelope, an insert shot shows a hand grabbing a lever. This hand is held up by strings, a quick reference to the style of animation used in the Thunderbirds television series. Also, this is in a complete reversal to the series, as all shots in the TV show were of marionettes, except when there was an extreme closeup of a hand or foot, at which point was replaced with a person's hand or foot doing the required action (pulling a switch, stepping on the gas pedal of a car, etc.) 4. The five brothers were originally named after five of the "Mercury Seven" - John Glenn, Scott Carpenter, Alan Shepard, Virgil Gus Grissom, and Gordon Cooper. 5. All three police men who lead Transom, Mullion and the Hood away are Jonathan Frakes impersonators. The real Frakes is at the back of the shot as a policeman. His wife, Genie Francis, appears as a newscaster throughout the movie. Quote: The Hood: [controlling Brains telepathically] Like a puppet on a string!

Comments: The baseball film biography of Babe Ruth, the famed New York Yankees slugger was rush released while Ruth himself was still alive. It makes no mention whatsoever of Ruth's first wife, Helen. Reviews were, for the most part, negative. Citing the film's moments of heavy handedness including a rather contrived reanactment of Babe Ruth's famous World Series home run against the Chicago Cubs, some critics have even gone far to call it one of the worst sports biopics of all time. Trivia: 1. The film was rushed for release while Babe Ruth himself was still alive, which is why the movie ended the way it did. George Herman Ruth lived just 21 days after seeing the premiere, that he attended, on Monday, July 26th, 1948. He lost his life on Monday, August 16th, 1948. 2. The scenes at Yankee Stadium were shot and filmed, just hours before a real baseball game was scheduled to take place, and Babe Ruth got up from his death bed, just long enough, to see it, while he was still alive. 3. William Bendix actually hit a ball over the right field fence, (he was the first actor to do so). 4. Babe Ruth hit the home run for the sick boy, Johnny Sylvester, in 1926. Not in the 1932 World Series when he called his shot, (off Chicago Cubs' pitcher, Charlie Root). They were two separate events, in different World Series and against different teams. 5. In the movie, Johnny Sylvester is depicted as living in and being visited by the Babe in Gary, Indiana. However, Babe Ruth visited Johnny Sylvester at his home in Essex Fells, New Jersey. 6. When Babe leaves the field for the last time, Phil says "that ran your home-run total to 729". Ruth hit 714 home runs in his career. However, he also hit 15 in the World Series to give him 729 lifetime home runs in both the regular season and post-season. 7. Announcer Harry Wismer, who plays himself, becomes the first owner of the New York Titans of the American Football League in 1960. 8. The baseball equipment was supplied by A.G. Spalding & Bros. Inc. Cartoons: "Stomach Ache Felt Around the World" and "The Big Wind" - Courtesy of Burris Jenkins, Jr.; "Life Begins At 41" - Courtesy of Gus Uhlmann and New York Post. 9. Mark Koenig was the New York Yankees shortstop from the mid-1920s until 1930, when he was traded to the Detroit Tigers. Star of the 1927 World Series, where he batted .500. 10. Sixty years ago, Mel Allen started out as an announcer for the New York Yankees. In 1977, he started "This Week in Baseball", a show comprised of the past weeks baseball highlights.

Trivia: Before filming the scene in which Precious slaps Consuela for saying "F for Fat", Lee Daniels told Gabourey Sidibe to slap Angelic Zambrana as hard as she could while purposely not telling the other girls beforehand. In the film, the reactions from the girls in that scene after she does so is actually unrehearsed. Anachronisms: 1. During the field trip, an image of the 1989 Tiananmen Square student protest is visible. This happened several years after the movie, which is set in 1987. 2. Metrocard advertisement is seen as Precious is walking past a bodega. The movie is set in the 1980s but Metrocards only became available in 1993. 3. Yellow New Jersey license plates that weren't used until the 90s. 4. Several times throughout the course of the movie, you can see 2 liter bottles of Sunkist on tables. These carry the logo used between the years 2001 and 2008, while this film takes place in 1987. 5. After Ms. Rain helps Precious read "A Day at the Shore", Precious' mother is seen drinking a can of Sunkist orange soda. The movie is set in 1987, but the can's design is a 2005-2009 re-design. 6. The Reach One Teach One teacher's office displays a certificate with Bill Clinton's signature as President of the United States. He was inaugurated in January 1993, and the scene occurred in 1987. 7. Twenty minutes into the movie Precious encounters some rowdy boys hanging out on the street. They are listening to Queen Latifah's "Come Into My House", but that song was not released until 1989. The movie is set in 1987. 8. The movie is set in 1987, but in one scene they play Bobby Brown's "Humpin Around" which was released much later in 1992. 9. There are several anachronisms related to the use of computers given the film's setting in 1987: The computer screen on the desk of the secretary at Precious's original school is shown displaying graphical capabilities several years ahead of the film's established time period; the computer on Mariah Carey's desk has a model of CD-ROM installed it which wouldn't be available for another six or seven years; The overall ubiquity of computers on the desks of virtually every educator and social worker as shown in the film would not have been the case in 1987. 10. Though set in 1987, Precious is clearly riding a subway from 2005 or later with her son. The yellow and orange bucket scenes have been in subway cars for a while, but the dark floor seen in the movie was a change made to some cars in the late 1990s. Prior, it was a light to medium tan. Also, a sign that warns "Riding or moving between cars is prohibited unless there is an emergency or as directed by police or train crew" is a relatively new sign. Moving between cars has been illegal only since December, 2005. 11. Rhonda writes a "Do Now" on the board when she takes over the lesson for Ms. Rain. This was NOT part of the Balanced Literacy, an educational movement for English Language Arts classes in 1987 (the year the movie is set). A "Do Now" HAS been utilized in the modified version of the Balanced Literacy model, called the Workshop Model. The Workshop Model is now the instructional model taught to teachers and encouraged in many New York City public schools. 12. While Precious is holding her baby standing outside a church in the snow, she peers threw the window as the choir sing Soul Holidays " A hit from Gospel group Sounds of Blackness". Though the movie is based in 1987, this song wasn't recorded until October 16,1992.

Trivia: 1. A rock-and-roll vampire comedy film starring, written and directed by Rob Stefaniuk. Stefaniuk stars alongside Canadian actress Jessica Paré, Malcolm McDowell and rock legends Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, Moby and Alex Lifeson of Rush. Production took place in and around Toronto in late 2008. 2. Various shots in the movie are meant to evoke classic rock album covers. Some examples: A shot of the band crossing the street is an homage to The Beatles "Abbey Road." Another shot of the band using a Union Jack flag as a blanket is based on The Who's "The Kids Are Alright." In the border station, the first shot is a nod to Bruce Springsteen's "Born In The USA". 3. Rob Stefaniuk stars as Joey Winner, lead vocalist of the Winners. He desperately wants the band to go somewhere, and considers this to be his last shot. Jessica Paré plays Jennifer, bassist of the Winners. She becomes a vampire early in the film, and attracts numerous people to come see the band. Iggy Pop is Victor, a studio owner to whose studio the band goes to record a single. Alice Cooper is a vampire bartender at the Montreal club. Malcolm McDowell is Eddie Van Helsing, a vampire hunter, who is afraid of the dark and is tracking the Winners on their tour. Flashback scenes, featuring the character of Van Helsing as a younger man, were edited from footage of the 1973 movie O Lucky Man!, starring McDowell at age 30. Dave Foley portrays Jeff, the band's sleazy manager. Moby plays Beef Bellows, the metal singer in the Buffalo band 'Secretaries of Steak'. Henry Rollins is Rockin' Roger, a radio station DJ interviewing The Winners. Alex Lifeson is the border guard. Danny Smith is Jerry, the gas station employee. Paul Anthony is Tyler, the guitarist and Mike Lobel is Sam, the drummer. Nicole de Boer is Susan, Joey's jealous girlfriend and Chris Ratz is Hugo. Dimitri Coats plays Queeny, the vampire, who "turns" Jennifer. He's a musician himself. Carole Pope is the club bouncer, Calico Cooper is a barmaid and Barbara Mamabolo is Danielle.
