Movies I Have Seen - June 2017 (13 movies)

Wonder Woman. 2017, Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen and Ooooota Adepo. Chinook Theatre, June 3, 2017, with Bethany Luther and Dr. Connie Luther. Soundtrack: "To Be Human" - Performed by Sia feat. Labrinth.

Blood Father. 2016 (French), Starring Mel Gibson, Erin Moriarty, Diego Luna, Michael Parks, William H. Macy and Thomas Mann. Movie Network, June 4, 2017.

The Magnificent Seven. 2016, Starring Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Byung-hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, Haley Bennett, Peter Sarsgaard, Luke Grimes, Matt Bomer, Jonathan Joss, Cam Gigandet, Sean Bridgers and Billy Slaughter. Movie Network, June 22, 2017. Soundtrack: "Theme from The Magnificent Seven" - Written by Elmer Bernstein; "Lucky Dan" and "Call to Arms" - Written by Joe E. Rand. Filming Locations: Louisiana, Arizona and New Mexico. Anachronisms: 1. As the crew ride into the mining operation to score some dynamite, a 45-starred American flag is flying on a wooden pole. That configuration flew from 1896 (admission of Utah) to 1907 (admission of Oklahoma). In 1879 the flag would have had only 38 stars. 2. The beautiful widow's dress is very inviting to the viewer, but a respectable woman of the 1870's would never allow her upper torso, arms, or legs to be seen in public. That was the province of prostitutes. 3. Both the Seven and other male characters are a remarkably liberal group for 1879. The seven represent at least five different ethnic groups, and the only overt sign of bigotry in the film is Faraday's "Oh, good! We have a Mexican." The slur "redskin" was also used only once. The racism Billy Rocks faced was implied in a story. Chisolm gets lots of push-back, but apparently not based on his race. All of this not likely in that era. 4. The look of the Mohawk hairstyle which Red Harvest sports throughout the film is a modern one and not at all unique to the time period in which the film takes place. It is also very doubtful that a Native American out in the West would have facial paintings which look as clean and well-designed as his do.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. 2016, Starring Joe Alwyn, Kristen Stewart, Chris Tucker, Garrett Hedlund, Vin Diesel, Steve Martin and Makenzie Leigh. Movie Network, June 24, 2017.

Extra. Movie Network, June 25, 2017. Soundtrack: "Wheeler", "Pour Me Out Of This Town", "Fever", "Wind", "Ryman", "She's Only 20", "Tribe", "Rainbow Slide", "Showed Me The Way", "Move On", "Runner", "Perfect Disaster" and "Eulogy" - Performed by Wheeler Bryson; "New Mister Me" - Performed by Kris Kristofferson. Trivia: Produced and co-written by Dorff, along with director Ryan Ross, Wheeler is structured around anonymity – only a handful of the cast knew that it was Dorff underneath the makeup, and fans at the Bluebird Café, where he performed, were also unaware.
