Branagh conceptualized this film as a Norse/comic-book twist on William Shakespeare's Henry V, which was about a young king who underwent trials and tribulations: fighting a war, courting a girl from another land, trying to live up to the example set by his father (a beloved king), and basic character development. 2. Idris Elba's casting prompted a proposed boycott by the Council of Conservative Citizens and a debate amongst comic book fans, some insisting it was wrong for a black man to play a Nordic god. In response Elba called the debate "ridiculous". 3. An entire town was constructed in Galisteo, New Mexico, to serve as a fictional location for the film. 4. To prepare for the role of Thor, Chris Hemsworth put on a massive amount of build and weight, through a six-month regimen of trips to the gym and indulging in a massive diet of eggs, chicken, sandwiches, vegetables, brown rice, steak and protein drinks. 5. The filmmakers placed the 'Foo Fighters' song "Walk" in the film because they thought its lyrics were strangely appropriate for the film, in particular the lyrics about learning to walk again and the way that fit the themes of the movie about redemption, and learning to be a hero. 6. This is Rene Russo's first film in six years. According to Russo, her daughter who persuaded her to work on the film after a long sabbatical. 7. Cameos include: Stan Lee, the creator of Thor in 1962, who appears as the truck driver who attempts to tow Mjolnir out of the crater it landed in; J. Michael Straczynski, a writer who worked on the "Thor" comics, and appears as the first person to try to lift Mjolnir; and Walter Simonson, a comic book writer/artist whose work on "Thor" was highly renowned and acclaimed, who appears in the banquet scene near the end of the film, sitting between Sif and Volstagg. The exposition depicted in the movie is not, as some viewers have assumed, the World's Fair in New York City, which happened several years before the movie is set. The characters actually attend the fictional "Modern Marvels of Tomorrow" exposition. Quote: Steve Rogers: "I know this neighborhood. I got beat up in that alley. And that parking lot. And behind that diner." Anachronisms: 1. Red Skull is heard listening to a recording of Wagner's opera "Die Walkure" ("The Valkyrie") in an early scene with Dr Zola, but the recording he is listening to, conducted by Herbert von Karajan and featuring the distinctive voice of Canadian tenor Jon Vickers, wasn't recorded until 1968. 25 years after the scene takes place. What's more, the same record contains both Siegmund's aria "Ein Schwert verhieß mir der Vater" from "Die Walküre" and Siegfried's funeral march from "Götterdämmerung," heard without a break. Both pieces could not have fitted on one side of the short-playing 78 records used during World War II. 2. When Steve Rogers and Carter are sat in a bombed out pub in London during an air raid, a rather modern sounding two tone emergency services vehicle siren can be heard outside. Emergency vehicles during the 1940s used bells and this type of siren was not used until the 1970s. 3. A telephone in the War Room bunker beneath London when Steve Rogers's troops deploy there for briefing is a type not invented until the late 1960s. 4. Colonel Chester Phillips refers to British Intelligence as "MI6", which it was not regularly known as until much later. During World War II, it would have been referred to as the SIS. 5. When Steve Rodgers and Dr. Erskine are sitting in the barracks having a discussion, Steve's footlocker has his social security number on the lid. During World War II, military personnel had a service number which had a different format than the social security number used by today's military. 6. Captain Steve Rogers wears the yellow American Defense Service ribbon. The ribbon/medal was awarded for qualifying service performed between September 8, 1939, and December 7, 1941. Since Rogers joined the Army after America's entry into WWII, he would not be entitled to wear this ribbon. 7. Before Captain America and Bucky zip line onto the Hydra train, Jim Morita can be seen wearing a H4855 Personal Role Radio, an item which only came into use in 2002, for the British Army. While they do have advanced equipment it is unlikely they'd have something 50-60 years before it was actually in use. Especially as Captain America's team is not the British Army. 8. In the very first scene in London, some blimps can be seen on the background, behind the Big Ben. These were used as observation platforms against air raids from zeppelins during WW1. Nevertheless, during WW2 blimps were no longer used, as they were very vulnerable to modern aircraft and Britain already had radar stations at the time. However, these are barrage balloons, used extensively during WW2 as defense against bombers. Balloons were held by cables which were fixed to winches on lorries. Cables were more important than the balloons as an aircraft had only to touch a cable and it would be destroyed straight away. If the balloon was shot it exploded, taking the aircraft with it. The bombers had to fly above the balloons, reducing their accuracy and dive bombers could not be used. 9. A number of the tracked vehicles seen outside the German prison are M113 armored personnel carriers. In addition to being American vehicles, the M113 was not designed until the 1950's and was first operationally fielded by the US Army in 1960. 10. When Captain America is doing the bond promotion, there is a scene where a motorcycle drops from above (on cables) with three people on it. The engine in the motorcycle shows it to be a modern (post 1985) "Evolution" engine, not of a type that would have been built in 1943/1944.

Trivia: 1. Principal photography began in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Secondary filming took place about an hour outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the Butler area. A chase sequence was also shot in Worthington, Pennsylvania at Creekside Mushroom Farms, the world's largest single-site mushroom farm, which provided 150 miles of abandoned limestone tunnels 300 feet below the ground for filming. Production relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where the city's East 9th Street was chosen as a double for New York City's 42nd Street to be used in climactic battle scenes. Filming also took place in the large vacuum chamber at the NASA Plum Brook Station near Sandusky, Ohio. The station's Space Power Facility was used to portray a S.H.I.E.L.D. research facility. A series of explosions were filmed at the Chevrolet powertrain plant in Parma, Ohio as part of the battle sequence that began in Cleveland. Scenes from the film were also shot on Public Square and the Detroit–Superior Bridge. The southwest quadrant of Public Square was turned into Stuttgart, Germany, for filming. Principal photography concluded in New York City, where filming occurred over two days. Filming locations in New York City included Park Avenue and Central Park. All the scenes filmed in Ohio were originally to be filmed in Michigan. Planned production was moved to Ohio when it was revealed that Michigan's film tax rebates were going to be revoked. 2. The Hulk only says two words: "Puny god." Lou Ferrigno voices the Hulk in this film. He has played the Hulk in almost every live-action version since 1978: he played the Hulk in The Incredible Hulk and its subsequent three TV specials, and he voiced the Hulk in the big-screen The Incredible Hulk (he was seen in Hulk but it was a cameo role as a security guard, which he repeated in The Incredible Hulk ). He also has voiced the Hulk in various animated productions. 3. Mark Ruffalo personally portrays the Hulk through virtual-camera motion-capture. Previous live-action versions have had Bruce Banner and the Hulk be played by separate people (Bill Bixby and bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno), or had the Hulk rendered into the film in computer-generated imagery. 4. After Loki is brought on board the Helicarrier, Tony Stark can be seen wearing a Black Sabbath T-shirt. Black Sabbath is better known for their song "Iron Man." Although the song was not originally associated with the Marvel Comics character, it has since been referenced in the comics and the end of Iron Man when Tony quotes the lyric, "I am Iron Man." Tony Stark's shirt is for Black Sabbath's 1978 tour. This was noteworthy for being the band's final tour with Ozzy Osbourne as vocalist, and for having a then-up-and-coming band called Van Halen as the opening act. 5. The final end credit scene was added after 'Robert Downey Jr'. encouraged a rewrite of a previous scene. After Thor rips off Iron Man's mask to reveal an unconscious Tony Stark, who had just fallen back to Earth, Tony originally awakens and asks, "What's next?". Robert Downey Jr. thought the line could be more interesting, and the idea of going to a local shawarma restaurant was born. The scene was added two days after the Hollywood premiere. When they filmed the extra post credits scene after the premier, 'Chris Evans' had to wear a prosthetic face to cover up the facial hair he had on his face that he needed for a film he was filming at the time. They also had him cover his face partially with his hands. 6. The first film to gross $200 million in its first three days in the USA. 7. Stan Lee has a cameo as the old man being interviewed at the end of the New York battle. 7. The decimation of Stark Tower during the final battle destroys the company logo, leaving only the illuminated "A" at the end of the film. This is a subtle nod (and potential sequel set-up) to the comics where the Avengers operate out of a giant building alternatively depicted as an "A" shaped building, or as a skyscraper with a giant "A" crowning the top. The private security forces shown at the beginning of the Stuttgart scene are wearing assault rifles, apparently HK G36. However, under German law, fully automatic weapons are considered as weapons of war whose usage is restricted to armed forces and the police.

The final fight scene between the Hulk and Abomination was filmed in Toronto, Canada. The beginning of the fight is filmed outside of the Zanzibar strip club on Yonge street. 9. Hulk has a total of six words: "Leave Me Alone", "Hulk Smash", and "Betty". This marks the third time Ferrigno portrayed the Hulk, having also voiced the character in the 1996 animated series. The correct word for "made" in Portuguese is "feita", not "fabricado". 3. In the scene of battle on NYC street, a 2 neon disc sign is clearly seen. A time-lapse scene shows the sun not setting during the night at Sitka. Alaska is almost 1500 miles north to south. While there are places in Alaska, above the Arctic Circle, where the sun doesn't set at night in summer, the sun always sets in Sitka, even in summer (though sometimes quite late, and nautical twilight isn't reached every night).

Nemo tells his life story in segments to a young reporter (Mays) and to his psychiatrist (Allan Corduner). Nemo refers to his three main loves (Kruger, Polley and Dan Pham) and to his parent's divorce and subsequent hardships endured at three main moments in his life; Nemo at age 9, 16 and 34. The film utilizes non-linear plot progression and the many-worlds interpretation to tell the story of Nemo's life. The film has a tree structure: from the birth of the protagonist, the viewer sees all the possible options for the development of his life, which generally form several "branches". Trivia: 1. Nemo is Latin for "nobody". It was the name that Odysseus gave the Cyclops. 2. Free movement across time is a recurring theme of the film.
