Trivia: 1. Based on the 1974 novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy by John le Carré, Set in London in the early 1970s, the story follows the hunt for a Soviet double agent at the top of the British secret service. 2. Filmed in London, Budapest and Istanbul. 3. The title of the film and its source novel is taken from an English children's rhyme 'Tinker, Tailor' that reads: "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor, Rich Man, Poor Man, Beggar Man, Thief". 4. The hands of the optician adjusting the equipment during Smiley's eye exam belong to Alfie Oldman, Gary Oldman's son. 5. Cameo - John le Carré: author of the 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' novel, appears as a slightly drunken guest at the Christmas party. 6. The French song heard in the film's closing scenes is "La Mer", sung by Julio Iglesias. This song was chosen by the filmmakers because they thought it was a song George Smiley would listen to when he was alone; Tomas Alfredson described the song as "everything the world of MI6 isn't." Anachronisms: 1. In the Paris scene with the white Peugeot, two silver, modern cars can be seen parked on the street just up the hill from the Peugeot. 2. When the roof of the train is shown, it is of a ridged type not seen until the introduction of the featured multiple units in 1981. 3. A scene in Istanbul showed a tram. There were no trams in Istanbul in 1973. They were in use up until the mid/late 1960s, at which point they were discontinued, and then re-introduced in the 1990s. 4. One shot where the car drives under the railway bridge clearly shows modern street lights which were put in during the 1990s. 5. In one of the flashbacks to the Christmas party, presumably before Control resigns in 1973, a "Lenin Santa" has everyone sing along to a recording of the Soviet National Anthem. The version that is played is the 1977 version - the original 1944 words fell out of favor after Stalin's death in 1953 and the anthem was played without words until the new version in 1977. 6. The 1973 establishing shot of the Budapest Parliament building shows no red star on the dome. The giant red star was put there during the communist era and was removed during the early 1990's. 7. When in Istanbul, a freighter in the Bosphorus with a bulbous bow can be clearly seen. The bulbous bow wasn't in common use until two decades later. 8. The Fred Perry shirt the guy was wearing after the squash game did not come out until 1976, it was based on the Bjorn Borg Fila original. 9. In the scene where C's flat is entered after his death there is a box full of files. The box itself is packaging for a Dual CS 505-1 turntable. These were not in production until 1980. 10. In the docks scene, when they are taking Irina, a new BMW 7 series can be seen between some barrels, at the left corner of the screen for a glimpse of time. 11. Julio Iglesias' cover of the song 'La Mer' used in the movie's final scene is from a live album recorded in 1976 ('En Directo Olympia'); it wouldn't have been on the turntable at the last Christmas party which had Control and Prideaux in attendance, as that was presumably in 1972. 12. The optician Smiley visits has a sticker representing a huge stylized pair of spectacles diagonally across the door. This would never have been allowed under the General Optical Council's strict rules on advertising, which were not relaxed until the early 1980s. 13. During a roof shot going down the building to the road in Istanbul, 2 split type air conditioners can be clearly seen mounted on a building wall. Split air conditioners came to the Turkish market in mid'90s. 14. At 00:52:17, Siyami Ersek Hospital Tower is visible, which was completed in 2001. 15. When Smiley and Guillam are going through Control's flat after his death - which occurs in 1973 (based on the last document he signs before he leaves The Circus, of which there's a clear close-up showing the date) - there's a box for a Dual CS505-1 turntable - which wasn't made until 1980.

Trivia: 1. Written and directed by Mike Mills. The film is based on the true-life coming out of Mills' father at the age of 75, five years before his death. 2. Early in the movie, Oliver comments that his dog, Arthur (and other dogs in the same breed, Jack Russell terrier) now by chance are very cute to humans, and that people love them so much that they often put them in TV shows and movies. The most famous "acting" Jack Russells of recent years (Moose, who played "Eddie" in the TV show Frasier and Moose's son, Enzo, who was the title character in My Dog Skip) were both owned and trained by the same professional animal trainer, Mathilde de Cagny, who owns and trains Cosmo, the dog playing Arthur. 3. At 82 years of age, Christopher Plummer won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for this film, and became the oldest person to ever win an Oscar for acting. Anachronism: The movie is dated 2003 and on the movie night they watch Milk from 2008.

Goodwine and the Gullah Cunneckshun; "The British Grenadiers" (Traditional). Trivia: 1. The protagonist, Benjamin Martin, is a composite figure based on three real American Revolutionary War officers: Francis Marion, Daniel Morgan and Thomas Sumter. 2. Aunt Charlotte's house is the same one used in Forrest Gump, with slightly different interior paneling. The stone hedge visible in Forrest Gump is camouflaged with bushes in this film. Anachronisms: 1. In the Charleston scene exiting the town hall, an extra is wearing visible, foam ear plugs. 2. When Tavington is searching for the child hiding under the table his boots are clearly visible and certainly of the "Left-Right" variety. Boots were made on straight lasts until the 1800s. 3. Modern snare drums. 4. In the first shot of the film, two of the children are seen playing with alphabet cards. These famous "Hotch Potch, posture master" cards weren't printed until 1782. However the scene takes place in 1776. 5. When the militia are about to be hanged, just before Benjamin Martin rides in, you see the British prepare for the hanging by testing tying sandbags to the noose and opening the trap doors. In actuality, hanging with trap doors didn't happen until after the war. (In the DVD commentary, the director acknowledges this and says they did this because "it looked cool".) 6. After the ships blow up in Charleston Harbor, Benjamin and his band ride through the countryside and we see a high tension electricity pylon in the background. 7. Great Danes were not known by that name until the late 19th century, before that they were called "Boar Hounds". 8. When Charlotte and the kids are hiding from the red coats in the root cellar, they creep past a basket full of bread wrapped in cellophane. Cellophane wasn't invented until 1906. 9. In the scene where Tavington is after Martin's children at Charlotte's plantation, Susan is seen looking out a window covered with a venetian blind. Venetian blinds weren't invented till the late 1800's - 100 years after the time period of the movie. The most accepted "invention" of blinds was by a man from Chile named Hernando de Venuto on May 20, 1857. Clearly, in the home used, they forgot to remove one set. 10. In the final scene showing the new home for the Martins, it is going up with balloon framing. This type of construction was not in practice until the early 1800's. The framing should have been of 17th century post and lintel type. 11. The Great Danes purportedly sent to Cornwallis as a gift from the King have had their ears pricked. This is not done anywhere but in the modern USA, and certainly not at that time in Britain. 12. Aunt Charlotte Selton and Captain Wilkins have reverse suntans (raccoon eyes), obviously from wearing sunglasses out in the sun. The weight of the glasses left actual imprints on the side of her nose, which are easily seen in several close-ups. 13. The movie begins before the war and ends at (or near) the end of it. This is a span of 5-7 years, yet none of the Martin children (especially the little ones) age a day. 14. Rocking chairs are not believed to have been common furniture before the early 19th century. While Col. Martin is waiting in Gen. Cornwalis' office, he notices and begins to specifically examine the rocking chair in the corner, finally going so far as to sit in it. (Though apocryphal, [error] is sometimes attributed with inventing the rocking chair.) 15. Benjamin Martin shoots a British soldier who is on a moving horse using a flintlock pistol at a range of approximately 100 yards. Hitting a moving target at that distance would be difficult even with a modern pistol. The effective range of a black powder pistol is about 20 feet as the barrel is too short to allow all the powder to burn before the ball leaves the barrel (too low a muzzle velocity to achieve any sort of range) 16. Martin is shown several times melting down his dead son's lead soldiers to make musket balls. The model soldiers look to be wearing uniforms dating from about the late 19th Century. 17. The music performed at the party scene was the Gavotte from Bach's Orchestral Suite # 3. This music was unknown until its rediscovery as part of the Bach renaissance started by Felix Mendelssohn in 1850. This piece was first performed in the United States at the Cincinnati May Festival on May 7, 1873. 18. When the children are looking at Polaris (the North Star), modern light pollution can be seen.

Trivia: 1. Directed by John Stockwell and based on the Outside magazine article "Life's Swell" by Susan Orlean. 2. The movie was shot primarily on the island of Oahu, including the North Shore, Mākaha, Waikīkī, and the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina. The production depended heavily on local talent. 3. Many of the characters in the film are portrayed by real surfers found on the North Shore. Some of the world's top female surfers, including ones featured in the original magazine article, surfed the larger waves for the film. The actresses' faces were later digitally superimposed on the surfers. Michelle Rodriguez did most of her own jet ski stunts, including towing Kate Bosworth's stunt double out to the biggest waves. 4. The rainbow behind Kate Bosworth at the end of the competition was real. It was almost edited out because it was too cheesy, but since Hawaii really does have frequent rainbows it was left for authenticity.

Anachronisms: 1. In a scene where the police are getting some candy together, some of the candy is in boxes from the 1990s, a design that did not appear until almost 30 years after the time in which the movie is set. 2. The station wagon Butch steals is a either an Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser or its twin the Buick Skylark Sports Wagon, easily identified by the glass "skylights" around the edge of the roof. However these cars were not introduced until February of 1964. Earlier in the movie a reference is made to an upcoming visit to Dallas by President Kennedy, so the car could not exist during the time frame of the movie. 3. Based on the references to President John F. Kennedy and the Texas governor's re-election campaign, the events in this movie take place in 1962. The US paper money shown at the end of the movie and in the opening are modern post-1964 Federal Reserve Notes instead of Silver Certificates which were the only currency in circulation in 1962.

[Punches Happy in the gut, then proceeds to punch him in the face ten times, sending Happy falling into a pond] Happy Gilmore: [Happy gets out] "Now you're gonna get it, Bobby!" [Happy grabs his club and swings at Bob, who blocks, punches Happy in the face, then throws him to the ground. Happy tackles Bob, resulting in both of them rolling down a hill. At the bottom, Happy headbutts Bob] Happy Gilmore: "The price is *wrong*, bitch!"
Bob Barker: [Bob grabs Happy's throat, opens his eyes with a menacing look, stands up, punches Happy in the gut twice, and once in the face before Happy falls down again] "I think you've had enough." [Starts to walk away, but notices Happy start to stand up again] Bob Barker: "No?" [Kicks Happy in the face]
Bob Barker: "*Now* you've had enough... bitch."

Trivia: 1. The chase scene at PNC Park was filmed on August 22, 2010, during an actual game. The Pirates beat the Mets 2-1. John Singleton wanted to film a chase scene there, which was not in the script, with a small crew with Taylor Lautner doing his own stunts. 2. Nathan wears a Pittsburgh Pirates shirt, #21 with the name Clemente on the back. Roberto Clemente was a star player for the Pirates. He was the first Latin American to have 3000 hits, and the first Latin American elected into the Hall of Fame posthumously. He won 12 golden gloves, 15 All-star selections, lifetime .317 batting average, and played in two winning World Series, being MVP in the '71 series. He died on a flight to Nicaragua on the 31st of December, 1972, flying with emergency relief items to help after the earthquake there. The statue outside PNC park (which was possibly going to be named after Clemente before PNC bought the naming rights) where the ticket is left is of Roberto Clemente.

Principal photography for Antitrusttook place in Vancouver, British Columbia, and California. Simon Fraser University's Burnaby campus stood in for external shots of NURV headquarters. 3. Trivia: The film is based on the 1991 novel The Feather Men by Sir Ranulph Fiennes. Anachronisms: 1. The Clear Sky travel agency has a six digit (should be seven) 0171 phone number. The 0171 code didn't exist until 1995, before that it was 071, and in the 1980's when the scene is set, the code for London was 01. 2. The movie takes place in 1980, but one of the very first establishing shots in the movie clearly shows a red Pontiac Fiero, which didn't come out until 1984. 3. In the final sequence, Spike is escaping in a second generation Volkswagen Jetta, a car that did not existed until 1985. 4. In two of the London arial shots, three Mercedes Citaro low-floor articulated buses can be clearly seen - which only started production in 1997, and were introduced to London in 2002. Moreover, there were no articulated buses in London at all in 1980, when the movie is set. 5. In the opening scenes Jason Stratham is using the Beretta 92F handgun first manufactured in 1992 and the film is set in 1980. However, the Beretta 92S was available in 1980 and is visually almost indistinguishable from the 92F. 6. In the escape scene early in the movie, De Niro's character Hunter takes a Glock 17 handgun from a guard. This weapon was not manufactured/sold until about 1984. Since the scene is set in 1980 it is somewhat improbable that he would have one. 7. At one point there is a shot of the Eiffel Tower, featuring the lighthouse. This was added for the 21st century celebration but the movie takes place in the early 80s. 8. Davied carries a Sig Sauer pistol throughout the movie even though Sig Suaer wasn't established until 1985. 9. When Spikes leaves the van where Davies' dead body lies, the intersection on background is crossed by semi-trailer pulled by series 4 Scania truck. Scania introduced 4-series trucks in 1995. 10. When Danny and Davies are scouting the Brecon Beacons in 1980, Danny's coat clearly has a Superdry logo on the collar. SuperGroup, the parent company of Superdry wasn't founded until 1985. Superdry as a brand wasn't founded until around 2003. 11. The sequence featuring a car chase starting and finishing at the hospital featured many vehicles with license plates showing three numbers and four letters, a format which has never been used in England. 12. When Hunter sits with Anne in the cafe in Paris the menu items written on the wall have prices in Euros, in 1980 it should have been Francs. 13. Mobile radio sets with short antennas are used, which came into use much later. 14. The type of helmet used during the assassination of the last target is clearly of a later era. 15. When the ransom money is being taken out of the attaché case, the one-hundred dollar bills have the current large faced Benjamin Franklin rather than the regular faced bills of the time period.

The second film to feature Clint Eastwood as maverick cop Harry Callahan after the 1971 film Dirty Harry. Ted Post, who also directed Eastwood in TV's Rawhide and the feature film Hang 'Em High, directed the second film in the Dirty Harry series. 2. This film features early appearances by David Soul, Tim Matheson and Robert Urich as the primary antagonists, the vigilante traffic cops. The film would launch a number of careers, including David Soul (Starsky & Hutch television series), Robert Urich (S.W.A.T., Vega$ and Spencer for Hire) and Tim Matheson (films like Animal House (1978) and Fletch (1985). Future Three's Company TV star Suzanne Somers can be seen as the topless blonde at the mobster's pool party. 3. At 124 minutes, it is also the longest Dirty Harry film. 4. According to Clint Eastwood biographer Marc Eliot the addition of a black partner Early Smith was a "conscious attempt by Warner to ameliorate the outrage that the punk in the 'Do you feel lucky?' scene (in 'Dirty Harry') was black." Quote: 1. Pilot: "Excuse me, Captain. This may seem silly, but - can you fly?" Harry Callahan: "Nope. Never even had a lesson." 2. Harry Callahan: [at end of main titles] "This is a 44. Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and it could blow your head clean off. Do you feel lucky?" [fires at the audience] Anachronism: Just after Harry gets word there's trouble in the airport, we hear a female voice over the public address system: "American Airlines Flight 557, Electra II Flagship, nonstop for Washington, now boarding at Gate 5." American Airlines stopped using Electra IIs in 1969. In fact, the full-size Lockheed Electra II turboprop had virtually disappeared from all U.S. airlines by the time of "Magnum Force."

Soundtrack: "THIS SIDE OF FOREVER" - Performed by Roberta Flack, Music by Lalo Schifrin, Lyrics by Dewayne Blackwell. Trivia: 1. The fourth film in the Dirty Harry series, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood (making it the only Dirty Harry film to be directed by Eastwood himself). The film is notable for the catchphrase, "Go ahead, make my day", which is uttered by Clint Eastwood's character in the beginning of the film. 2. Many of the film's scenes were filmed in San Francisco and Santa Cruz, California. The scene where Harry chases a bank robber in the downtown business district offers a rare glimpse of the area before it was devastated by the Loma Prieta earthquake of October 17, 1989. Footage for the robbery in "Acorn Cafe" was actually shot at Burger Island (now a McDonald's) at the corner of 3rd Street and Townsend in San Francisco. At this point in his career, Eastwood was receiving a salary that included 60% of all film profits, leaving the other 40% for the studio. Estimates had Eastwood earning $30 million for Sudden Impact. 3. In total in the US, the film made $67,642,693, making it the highest grossing of the five films in the Dirty Harry franchise. 4. The last of six movies made by real-life couple Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke. 5. Sudden Impact is best remembered for Harry's catchphrase, "Go ahead, make my day". In 2005, it was voted in a poll by the American Film Institute as the sixth most memorable line in cinema history. United States President Ronald Reagan used the "make my day" line in a March 1985 speech threatening to veto legislation raising taxes. When campaigning for office as mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California in 1986, Eastwood used bumper stickers entitled "Go Ahead — Make Me Mayor". Quote: [Callahan dares a crook to shoot his hostage] "Harry Callahan: Go ahead, make my day."
Pale Rider. 1985, Starring Clint Eastwood as "Preacher", Michael Moriarty as Hull Barret, Carrie Snodgress as Sarah Wheeler, Richard Dysart as Coy LaHood, Christopher Penn as Josh LaHood, Sydney Penny as Megan Wheeler, Richard Kiel as Club, Doug McGrath as Spider Conway, Jeffrey Weissman as Teddy Conway, John Russell as Marshal Stockburn, S. Fishburn as Telegrapher, George Orrison as Stationmaster Whitey, Milton Murrill as Porter, Mike Munsey as Dentist/Barber, Keith Dillin as Blacksmith, Wayne Van Horn as Stage Driver, Fritz Manes and Glenn Wright as Stage Riders. Encore Avenue, August 29, 2012. Song: "Megan's Theme". Trivia: 1. Produced and directed by Clint Eastwood, who also stars in the lead role. This movie has plot similarities to the classic Western Shane (1953), including in its final scene, as well as previous Eastwood films featuring his Man with No Name character and his 1973 western High Plains Drifter. The title is a reference to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, as the rider of a pale horse is Death. 2. The film was primarily filmed in the Boulder Mountains and the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in central Idaho, just north of Sun Valley in late 1984. The opening credits scene featured the jagged Sawtooth Mountains south of Stanley. Train-station scenes were filmed in Tuolumne County, California, near Jamestown. Scenes of a more established Gold Rush town (in which Eastwood's character picks up his pistol at a Wells Fargo office) were filmed in the real Gold Rush town of Columbia, also in Tuolumne County, California. 3. The first horse assigned to Richard Kiel collapsed the first time he climbed aboard. He was then assigned a stronger horse. 4. The train station built for production was used again late in 1988 for Back to the Future Part III 5. When Stockburn arrives in town, Coy La Hood describes the Preacher to him. Stockburn appears unnerved and says quietly, "That man is dead," perhaps hinting that he had killed him or watched him die before. Clint Eastwood revealed in interviews that his character is in fact a ghost. Other clues to the Preacher's true nature are the ghastly bullet wound scars seen when he is dressing, and his sudden appearances and disappearances throughout the movie. Anachronisms: 1. Early in the film, during the bad guys hooraw through tin-panner's camp, one member of the gang is clearly shown shooting a 1872 Colt Single Action Army revolver at a steer. The film is set prior to the availability of the SAA and all other revolvers shown throughout the film are Colt cartridge conversions of the 1860 Army model, or the Preacher's cartridge conversion Remington. 2. When the Preacher rescues Megan Wheeler from the attempted rape by Josh, a modern bra strap can briefly be seen on her shoulder as she rides away on the Preacher's horse.

It is the first installment of the series to be shown in 3D. Filming took place in Detroit, Michigan, then Los Angeles and New York City. 2. One of the lies Adrian tells to the virgin is that Kumar works at the White House. Kal Penn, who plays Kumar, actually works at the White House and took time off from that job to make this movie. 3. Todd calls Harold "Sulu" at one point. John Cho, who plays Harold, also played Sulu in the 2009 version of Star Trek. 4. David Burtka, who plays "David Burtka" is Neil Patrick Harris's fiancé in their real lives. In the same way that the character that Neil Patrick Harris plays is distinguished in the credits from being himself, Burtka is credited as "David Burtka" instead of "himself." 5. Director Todd Strauss-Schulson was the man who got his throat slit by Sergei Katsov when Adrian visualizes the gangster's acts. 6. Unlike "Escape from Guantanamo Bay", the title characters briefly eat at a White Castle restaurant with Rosenberg and Goldstein. 7. Neil Patrick Harris tells Harold and Kumar that he will see them in the fourth installment.
