When Amy is driving her van with the family to see the nutcracker, you can see her registration in the windshield. It says the expiration date is 11/17. It's supposed to be 2 days until Christmas of 2017. Her registration is expired. 2. In the first scene, Jessie arrives and brings Amy's kids into her house. It's supposed to be December 18, 2017 and he tells her "The Bulls won." However, through the windows we see its still bright and sunny (despite it being one of the days of the year with the smallest amount of daylight), which would establish the time as close to noon. The Bulls didn't play until 7pm that evening (although they did beat the 76ers.)

Mystery of Love
Written and Performed by Sufjan Stevens, Published by New Jerusalem Music.
Produced by Thomas Bartlett Anachronisms: 1. Elio's wears a watch that appears to be the ubiquitous Casio F91-W, however this watch did not enter production until 1991 and despite looking retro doesn't quite match the setting of 1983. 2. In one scene just outside the Perlman's house, it is possible to see three cans of Illy coffee; in 1983, the design of the cans was different: shorter and larger. On top of that, the Illy logo displayed on the cans on display was created by James Rosenquist only in 1996. 3. Elio wears an anachronistic Fido Dido T-shirt a couple times in the movie, including the beautiful scene on the sofa with his father near the end of the film. Although the film takes place in 1983, the Fido Dido character wasn't created until 1985. And in fact, if you pause/freeze-frame playback during that scene on the sofa, you can clearly see on the front of Elio's T-shirt the copyright year 1985 in small lettering (showing as "© 1985 Fido Dido") on the lower left side. 4. As soon as Oliver's train has left the station of Clusone, Elio calls his mother on the phone, asking her to come and pick him up. The train station of Clusone was a bus only station by 1983, as the railway line of Valle Seriana (in the province of Bergamo) closed down in 1967 to be substituted by a bus line. 5. This film gets the cars right except for the Alfa 90 released in 1984 whilst it's still 1983 in the film. 6. The Persol sunglasses Oliver wears throughout would have had a 4-barrel "Meflecto" temple in 1983; only after Luxottica bought the company in the 2000s did they reduce the 649 to 2 barrels, which is seen in the film. 7. The book that Elio gave to Marzia is the collection of poems "Parole" [Words] by Antonia Pozzi, curated by Alessandra Cenni and Onorina Dino and published for the first time by Garzanti in its series Poesia in 1989 (while the movie is set in 1983). 8. When Elio is seated in the garden, just before being shown a fish by Anchise, there is a Sony HF cassette tape on the table which dates from around 1988. A correct one for the era could be the Sony CHF with white & orange labels on the shell. 9. When prof. Perlman is showing Oliver the colour slides of Greek statues sent from Berlin, the 4th one is the 'dancing satyr' which was discovered in Sicily in 1998 (the statue is displayed in a museum specially built for it in Mazara del Vallo in Sicily), while the film is set in 1983.

Grow
Written by Algee Smith
Performed by Algee Smith and Larry Reed. Anachronisms: 1. In one of the interrogation rooms, there is a grounded outlet. Outlets weren't grounded in 1967. However The N.E.C. first mentions grounding receptacles in 1959. Grounding receptacles were required in new work in the 1968 code. 2. The haircuts worn by many of the police officers were not only against regulations for the time (1967), they would have attracted unwanted attention from the public for being "too long." 3. One of the wall lights in a scene has a fluorescent bulb. These were not invented until the 1990s and not widely used until the 2000s. 4. The phones in the motel have flexible cords which were not available until the 1970's, well after the 1967 setting of the film. 5. The film is set in 1967. The Dramatics sing a line from 'What You See is What You Get' which didn't come out until 1971. 6. When protesters are seen running down 12th Street, you can see mobile phone panels and microwave dishes. These were not out in 1967. 7. There is a shot in he first half of the movie where the back of a parked Volkswagen Beetle fills most of the frame for a few seconds. The rear deck lid on the VW has four large vertical cooling vent slots, a design that was not introduced until 1972. 8. In a hotel room, one of the guest telephones had a modular connector on the telephone handset, rather than being hard-wired to the telephone base. This was not common until many years later.

Crazy Credits: At the very end of the credits, tucked among the copyright disclaimers is the sentence, "And yes, we know that's not El Salvador." This is a reference to a joke in the film about mistaking El Salvador for Nicaragua on the map. In fact, the country on the map was neither El Salvador nor Nicaragua, it was Honduras. Anachronisms: 1. When being taken for a tour around Colombia in a brightly colored helicopter, the door is open and through the window of the door can be seen the start of a website address on the side of the helicopter. All that can be seen is 'www.' with the door covering the rest of the address. The World Wide Web was not around in 1980. 2. The propeller-driven Customs plane that intercepts Barry and convinces him to land in the suburban neighborhood in the early 1980s has "US Customs & Border Protection" on the side. At that time in American history it should've said "US Customs Service," as Customs & Border Protection was created in 2003. 3. When he meets with his CIA contact, Schafer, after being re-located to Arkansas in the early 1980s, Schafer is seen getting into a Chevrolet Celebrity with flush headlights. This style of Celebrity did not come about until 1986. 4. The Coast Guard planes are Beechcraft King Air C90 GTx aircraft. Hawker Beechcraft company (now Textron) introduced the GTx version with winglets and Rockwell Collins ProLine 21 glass cockpit in 2010. 5. All of the fire extinguishers in the film, like in the plane hangar, are 2015 and later models, which would not have existed in the 1980's. 6. The movie poster features Tom Cruise's bag dropping $100 bills. The version shown, a 1996 note, was not released until after the movie's events. 7. Sarah Wright's hair, clothing, makeup and mannerisms are pure 21st-century and would have been wildly out of place in the 1970s American South. 8. Towards the end of the film, when Barry is making the video tapes in the motel room, an exterior shot of the room and the motel in general show electronic key card locks on the doors. While mechanical key card locks had existed for a few years by the time this scene takes place, the digital mag stripe-based locks seen in the film had not yet been developed. 9. Contemporary vehicles are visible in the reflection of a restaurant before the end credits. 10. At the beginning of the movie, when Barry is taxiing his TWA jet and is reported to be "number 13 for take off," one see a number of jets, some of them appearing to be in the modern Southwest livery. Also, the jets appear to be a modern type of Boeing 737 which did not exist in the 80s (recognizable by the oval shape of the engines as seen from the front of the airplane and by the winglets). 11. To set the scene for early 1978, the opening montage includes shots of Iranian ayatollahs and a videocassette player, and plays music from 1976. The Iranian revolution didn't take place until 1979; well over 90% of Americans in 1978 had never seen or heard of VCRs, which were still far too expensive for home use; and because popular music had taken such a drastic turn in late 1977, "Let Your Love Go" by the Bellamy Brothers was, despite being only two years old, too old-fashioned for 1978, belonging instead to the "Country Crossover" tastes of 1974-1976. 12. In the beginning scenes, Tom Cruise's character meets "Schafer" in a diner in Louisiana. In the background, through the window, you can see a Publix SuperMarket sign in the background. Publix is a grocery chain that started in Florida, and didn't leave the state of Florida until after the 90's; which is after the time period of the movie. 13. The film shows Tom Cruise's character in jail narrating about a new sheriff in town. It shows Ronald Reagan speaking to his fellow Americans. He is out of jail and and the CIA offers to relocate him and his family to Mena, AR. The indicates his move to Mena '80. Reagan did not take the oath of office until 1981.

He mentioned that Sandy Koufax led the league in strikeouts. In fact, Koufax was a rookie in 1955, appeared in only a few games and struck out only 30 batters. He didn't become a dominating pitcher until 1961, when he led the National League in strikeouts for the first time. 2. When Cory appears in 1962 in his Marine Corps dress blues, he has the Vietnam Service Ribbon, not established until 1965. 3. When Troy and Bono are talking in 1956, a tan 1955 Pontiac Chieftain two-door is parked at the curb. It has Buick Wildcat wheels from 1961. 4. This was set in the 1950's, but in the kitchen there were 3 prong outlets. Those outlets didn't become standard until the 1960's.

Anachronism: When Jeff comes out for the national anthem during the hockey game, both benches are empty and both teams hockey players are nowhere to be seen. In real life, the anthem is sung just prior to puck drop with all of the players and coaches present; either on the ice at the blue lines or on the bench. This reality also separates hockey from other sports such as baseball, basketball and football which, apart from huge games like season openers or championships, usually complete the anthem singing during warmups or while the players are still in the dugout or tunnel. Additionally, one of the advertisements on the boards is for the NHL's playoff bracket contest despite the fact that the division re-alignment that created the bracket system (in which teams must first play the teams in their division before advancing to the conference finals) was first instituted during the 2014-15 season and not during the 2013 playoffs in which the film is supposed to be taking place.

Movies I Have Seen - May 2018 (13 movies)
Beverly Hillbillies.
The Dark Tower. 2017, Starring
Idris Elba as Roland Deschain
The last of the Gunslingers.[15] On the choice of Elba, director and co-writer Nikolaj Arcel stated, "For me, it just clicked. He's such a formidable man." He added that he had been an admirer of Elba's since The Wire,[15] and stated, "I had to go to Idris and tell him my vision for the entire journey with Roland and the ka-tet. We discussed, who is this character? What's he about? What's his quest? What's his psychology? We tried to figure out if we saw the same guy. And we absolutely had all the same ideas and thoughts. He had a unique vision for who Roland would be."[15] Stephen King himself spoke highly of Elba, stating: "I love it. I think he's a terrific actor, one of the best working in the business now."[15] On the character of Roland, King noted: "For me the character is still the character. It's almost a Sergio Leone character, like the Man with No Name," while remarking, "He can be white or black, it makes no difference to me. I think it opens all kind of exciting possibilities for the backstory."[15]
Matthew McConaughey as Walter, referred to as Walter Padick and the Man in Black
A ruthless ageless deceiver and sorcerer who seeks to destroy the Tower and rule in the chaos that sweeps over its seemingly infinite kingdoms.[15] On the choice of McConaughey, Arcel stated, "Matthew is an incredible actor who can do anything. That's how I feel about [Walter]. He could do anything."[15] About the character of Padick, Arcel added, "He is this timeless sorcerer, and being a Stephen King fan, I've read and experienced Walter in various iterations," making reference to The Stand and The Eyes of the Dragon.[15] "He has a very interesting way of seeing the world. He sees it with a sort of delight, even though he is obviously on the wrong side of the light-and-dark spectrum. He's someone I've been having a lot of fun with."[15] King made mention of him never having a clear image of the character's face, to which he explained: "I never really thought of him. But [in the movie] he becomes a character who isn't just a mirage that Roland is chasing. The way things are set up, he's right there."[15]
Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers, the Pure Shine
A young boy whom Roland must call upon to complete his journey, and a son-like figure to Deschain.[15][16][17] Taylor won the role after an international search.[16]
Claudia Kim as Arra, a seer
Fran Kranz as Pimli, one of Walter's Taheen technicians, animal-faced humanoids that wear human skins to appear human
Abbey Lee as Tirana, another of Walter's Taheen technicians
Katheryn Winnick as Laurie, Jake's mother
Jackie Earle Haley as Sayre, who manages Roland’s base in New York City (a human-taheen cross breed called can-toi in King’s novels, not clarified in the film).
Michael Barbieri as Timmy, Jake's friend and neighbour
Eva Kaminsky as Jill, a Taheen posing as a clinic worker to capture Jake
Nicholas Hamilton as Lucas Hanson, a bully at Jake’s school
José Zúñiga as Dr. Hotchkiss, Jake’s psychiatrist
One of the sub-themes in King’s Dark Tower novels is the connection of fathers and sons. In the film, Jake’s father and step-father are played by Karl Otto Thaning and Nicholas Pauling, respectively, while Roland’s father is played by Dennis Haysbert. The Movie Network, May 7, 2018. The Timothy Omundson character Lance Walters is a play on the name of the creator of Woody Woodpecker, Walter Lantz
Rotten Tomatoes: "Inanely cruel villains, an unoriginal story, ham-handed performances, and reliance on farts and burps are the low lights of this awkward effort to bring back a less-than-engaging cartoon bird."

Piano Concerto No.1 in B-flat minor
(uncredited)
Composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Anachronisms: 1. Although the movie takes place in 1957, at least four recordings played on the phonograph post-date that year: "Shakin' All Over," "You've Been Talkin' 'Bout Me, Baby," "Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb" and "Alone At Last." 2. At 01:35:09 the police place a ceramic mug into a plastic bag as evidence. However in 1957 a Police Evidence Bags were all made of paper, therefore a Police Evidence Tamper Proof Security Envelope should have been used.
