Trivia: 1. During the closing credits, the major cast members were credited both as their film characters as well as their corresponding characters from Swan Lake. 2. Because of the use of Tchaikovsky's music, the score was deemed ineligible to be entered into the 2010 Academy Awards for Best Original Score. 3. Other dancers seen in the film are members of the Pennsylvania Ballet Company. The movie was shot in Purchase, NY, during January 2010, when the company was not performing elsewhere. 4. ABT dancer Sarah Lane served as a "dance double" for Portman in the film.

Trivia: 1. In closing, the film notes that Beane passed up the opportunity to become the general manager of the Boston Red Sox, despite an offer of a $12.5 million salary, which would have made him the highest-paid general manager in sports history. He returns to Oakland to continue managing the Athletics. Meanwhile, two years after adopting the sabermetric model, the Boston Red Sox win their first World Series since 1918. 2. Filming locations included Fenway Park, the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum, Dodger Stadium and Blair Field, while studio shooting took place at Sony's Culver City studios. 3. At one point, we hear that Miguel Tejada has struck out to end a game. In the original book, Tejada's free swinging ways and relatively high strikeout rate was something of a point of contention, with the Dominican shortstop telling Beane and other Athletics' members that "You can't walk your way off the island". 4. First baseball movie to be nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award (Oscar) since Field of Dreams twenty-two years earlier. 5. Cast notes: Peter Brand is a composite character partly based on Paul DePodesta, who did not want his name used in the film. Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, makes an uncredited cameo appearance as former A's owner Stephen Schott. Spike Jonze has a small uncredited role as Alán, Sharon's spouse. Musician Joe Satriani appears as himself, performing "The Star-Spangled Banner" on electric guitar. Arliss Howard briefly appears as John W. Henry, owner of the Boston Red Sox. Anachronisms: 1. The song that Billy Beane's daughter plays on guitar and sings is "The Show" by Lenka. However, this song was not released until 2008. The films events takes place in 2002. 2. In an aerial shot of the Oakland stadium the Oracle Arena can be seen but the film takes place in 2002 when it was still known as the Oakland Arena. It was not renamed to Oracle Arena until 2007. 3. In 2001, when Scott Hatteberg is first shown on screen, his feet are up on a coffee table, clearly showing the Nike+ logo on the sole of his shoe. Nike+ was not introduced until 2006. 4. Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) wears an all-green Oakland A's cap with yellow logo and a black-colored under-bill. However the black-colored under-bill was not a feature for New Era caps until 2007, when they debuted 100% performance polyester caps with the black-colored under-bill to reduce glare. 5. When Billy visits Fenway Park, the Red Sox championship banners from 2004 and 2007 are visible, though this takes place in 2002. Also, the seats above the "Green Monster" are visible, the seats were not completed until the beginning of the 2003 season. 6. When Peter is flashing through all the players in his database, one player passing by is seen wearing a Toronto Blue Jays hat. The logo on the hat was not introduced until 2004. 7. In various scenes in Art Howe's office, there is a photo of former 71-73 A's manager Dick Williams with the Hall of Fame logo. Dick Williams was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee in December 2007. 8. Two McFarlane action figures, one of Dennis Eckersley and one of Rollie Fingers, are visible on Art Howe's desk. These figures were not produced until 2008 and 2009, respectively. 9. Scenes in working team offices include Cisco IP desk phones that were not in use at this time. 10. In one of the film's flashbacks, Beane is shown as a New York Met playing at Dodger Stadium against the Los Angeles Dodgers. As a player, Beane never played a game at Dodger Stadium, nor did he ever play a game against the Dodgers. 11. At one point in the film, it is revealed that Billy Beane is 44 years old; however, the real Billy Beane was born in 1962 and the events take place in 2002, meaning he would've been 40. 12. As the first example of his baseball know-how, Peter Brand shows Billy Beane a picture of Chad Bradford and tells the GM that the A's can get him cheap because every other team in baseball undervalues him. The problem is, this scene takes place following the 2001 season and Bradford had pitched for Oakland the entire 2001 season, after coming to the A's in a trade with the White Sox in December of 2000. 13. Although the movie gets the trade of Jeremy Giambi correct (it happened early in the season and he was dealt for John Mabry), Carlos Pena was not traded until two months later, and not for a relief pitcher and cash. Pena was traded as part of a three-team deal with the Tigers and Yankees, which brought starting pitcher Ted Lilly to the A's. 14. Game 5 of the 2002 ALDS between the Oakland A's and the Minnesota Twins is filmed as a night game. The actual game 5 on October 6, 2002, was a Sunday day game, and started at 1:00 Pacific Time.

Trivia: 1. Filmed at Fordham University in New York. 2. This film shares its title with a Neil Diamond song sung by Johnny Cash at the beginning of the film. Johnny Cash was known as "the man in black" due to his propensity for wearing all black. Michael Douglas' character spends most of the film wearing black clothing and only occasionally wears anything except black. 3. Director Brian Koppelman reveals in an interview with filmschoolrejects.com that the blonde that walks by at the end of the movie is Sports Illustrated cover model Brooklyn Decker.

Barn Burn; 6. Chinatown; 7. Indian Grounds; 8. Chinese Democracy; 9. Medley: One For the Road/Storm Clouds; 10. Trial By Fire; 11. Flight Of the Princess; 12. Ben There Done That; 13. Gang Arrives; 14. Ben Arrested; 15. It's Time; 16. Hotel; 17. One Man Left; 18. William Escapes; 19. Bible Study; 20. Who Let the Cows Out? Trivia: 1. It is the 2007 remake of the 1957 film of the same name, making it the second adaptation of Elmore Leonard's short story Three-Ten to Yuma. 2. Filming took place in various locations in New Mexico. 3. The weekend before shooting was scheduled to wrap, a freak storm dumped nearly 2 feet of snow on the supposedly drought plagued town. Labourers shoveled the snow from the buildings' balconies and roofs and distributed 89 dump trucks worth of dry soil on the ground. Backhoes created an 8 foot tall rampart of snow just beyond camera sight lines for the remaining 6 days of shooting. 4. Warned about the pain of surgery, Byron MacElroy tells Doc Potter that it's not the first time he's been shot. In real life, Peter Fonda accidentally shot himself in the stomach when he was 10. 5. In a deleted scene (included on the DVD), Ben Wade tells Byron McElroy, "I heard that your boss, Al Pinkerton, got an infection from biting his own tongue. And he died last month. Is that true?" Allan Pinkerton did die from an infected bite on his tongue, on July 1, 1884. This would place the events of the movie as occurring in August, 1884. Anachronisms: 1. In some of the shots of Bisbee, power lines (maybe telegraph lines) are visible on the horizon. 2. When Charlie Prince enters the corral in Contention, the weathered boards are held together with shiny new nails that have a gold-colored coating. 3. In the final scene where William is about to shoot Wade, a modern clothing label is visible on Wade's shirt. 3. In the saloon with Wade & his gang for a victory drink: When Wades gang leaves and Wade is taking his final drink at the bar with just the bar maid there, you can see he is taking the shot from a modern day plastic disposable shot glass, yet when he sets it on the bar it makes the sound of a glass shot glass. 4. There are dialogue references to "gunslingers", a term which did not exist until the 1920s. At the time of the film, such men would have been referred to as "shootists", "pistoleers", or simply "gunmen". 5. The construction sites in Contention have dimensional lumber being used and that didn't come into widespread use until mid 20th century. As explained in the behind-the-scenes featurette, the filmmakers decided to use the unfinished buildings in the final chase sequence because they ran out of budget for set-building.

Depictions: Che Guevara - In one scene actor Jsu Garcia as Che Guevara is shown after an ambush casually shooting a wounded Fulgencio Batista soldier where he lies. Later in the film the Guevara character asks Andy Garcia's character why he "bothers with such scum", in reference to a former Batista officer who was executed that morning. Fulgencio Batista - The film also depicts Cuban dictator at the time, Fulgencio Batista's "Bureau for the Repression of Communist Activities" (BRAC) unit, executing a prisoner at la Cabana and shooting a wounded insurgent who had attempted to storm the Presidential palace during the growing popular rebellion. Bill Murray as "The Writer" - Bill Murray appeared in the movie as the character of "the Writer". He shows up early in the movie asking Fico for a job, and hovers around Fico, commenting on the absurdities of life, though never playing a clear part in those absurdities. According to the “making of” video, the role is similar to that of a Greek chorus and is really the personality of the movie's author G. Cabrera Infante. Again, according to the making-of video, Murray was given some latitude in improvising dialogue – the scene toward the end where Murray and Hoffman (as Meyer Lansky) discuss egg creams was almost entirely improvised. Storyline: In Havana, Cuba in the late 1950's, a wealthy family, one of whose sons is a prominent nightclub owner, is caught in the violent transition from the oppressive regime of Batista to the Marxist government of Fidel Castro. Castro's regime ultimately leads the nightclub owner to flee to New York. Quote: Fico Fellove: Havana is very much like a rose: it has petals, and it has thorns... So it depends on how you grab it, but in the end, it always grabs you...

Trivia: 1. The film is a parody of teen musicals (particularly Grease) and centers on a group of delinquents that refer to themselves as "drapes" and their interaction with the rest of the town and its other subculture, the "squares", in 1960s Baltimore, Maryland. "Cry-Baby" Walker, a drape, and Allison, a square, create upheaval and turmoil in their little town of Baltimore by breaking the subculture taboos and falling in love. 2. Part of the film takes place at the now-closed Enchanted Forest amusement park in Ellicott City, Maryland. Others take place in the historic towns of Reisterstown, Jessup, Milford Mill and Sykesville, Maryland. 3. Like the successful "Hairspray", this John Waters movie was turned into a Broadway musical, with all new songs. Unfortunately, it ran for just under two months (April 24 to June 22, 2008). John Waters was involved as creative consultant. 4. Willem Dafoe only gets a minute of screentime. Anachronisms: 1. The movie is set in 1954 (given away by the banner in the gymnasium during the polio vaccinations that reads "Congratulations Class of 54!"). However, Milton is seen reading a copy of "Tales To Astonish #12" in Ramona's house. That comic came out in October 1960. 2. Movie is set in mid-Fifties but in effort to add period detail, Universal Pictures opening logo is old shot of plane circling globe - a studio logo that hadn't been used since Thirties or early Forties at latest. 3. The prisoners are wearing 3D glasses while watching "Creature From the Black Lagoon", but the print they're viewing is normal black-and-white.

Soundtrack: "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" - Written by Jonathan Cain and Steve Perry (as Stephen Perry), Performed by Journey, Courtesy of Columbia Records, by arrangement with Sony BMG Music Entertainment; "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" - Written by Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart (as Dave Stewart), Performed by the Eurythmics, Courtesy of BMG UK & Ireland Ltd, Under license from BMG Film & Television Music. The French electronic group Daft Punk composed the film score. In addition to the soundtrack, Daft Punk are spinning the tunes at the End of Line Club with their trademark helmets. Trivia: 1. Primary filming occurred in Vancouver, British Columbia. 2. In a reference to the first film, a song by the band Journey, "Worlds Apart (Separate Ways)", appears in the film. The songs in the first film included "Only Solutions" and "1990's Theme". 3. To play the computer program CLU, Jeff Bridges' face was "de-aged" with the same technology used on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to "age" Brad Pitt. Thus, in his role as Flynn, Bridges appears to be his actual age of 61, but as CLU (a program written back in the 1980s) he looks like he's in his 30s - programs don't age. In order to retro-age Jeff Bridges to a 35-year-old, the actor had to wear a special helmet fitted with 4 strategically placed cameras enabling every textural nuance of his facial expressions to be recorded for precision synthesis during digital processing. 4. Jeff Bridges (Kevin Flynn/Clu) and Bruce Boxleitner (Alan Bradley/Tron) are the only actors to appear in both TRON and TRON: Legacy. Neither Olivia Wilde (Quorra) nor Garrett Hedlund (Sam Flynn) were born when the original TRON was first released. 5. Cameo - Steven Lisberger: producer of the film and director of the original TRON as the End Of Line Club bartender. Quote: Tron: "I fight for the users." Anachronisms: 1. Flynn's Arcade was supposedly locked up when Kevin Flynn disappeared in 1989. However when Sam is walking through the arcade, one of the machines is Mortal Kombat. 2. When Sam deactivates the screen saver on the computer hidden in the arcade, we see one window with, among other things, an indication that the machine he's working on is a sun4m. The first sun4ms weren't announced until about 1992, well after the time that Kevin Flynn disappeared.

Trivia: 1. It is a collaboration between Martin Sheen and his real-life son Emilio Estevez to honour the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James), a Catholic pilgrimage route to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain, and promote the traditional pilgrimage. This is the seventh time that father-son Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez have worked together. 2. Filming took 40 days. The production company and actors walked between 300 and 350 kilometres during filming. Filmed with a small crew of fifty people and a couple of cameras for filming. No trailers were used, and, as Estevez jokingly remarked, neither was a director's chair. 3. Filmed on location in St. Jean Pied-de-Port, France; and the Provinces of Navarra, Rioja, Castilla y León, Galicia, Spain; Marrakesh, Morocco; Ventura, California.

Trivia: Directed by the Marin County, California twins Logan and Noah Miller. After their homeless father died in jail, Logan and Noah Miller vowed that their autobiographical film would be made as a dedication to him. With no money and no contacts, they found Ed Harris in a San Francisco alley, and later assembled a cast and crew with 11 Academy Awards and 28 nominations(???). Dedicated to their father, Daniel Arthur Miller. Storyline: The true story about a father struggling to make amends with his twin sons as they pursue their dreams of professional baseball.

Abigail Chase is a combination of Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams, and Samuel Chase, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and later an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. 2. The cities that the major action takes place in (Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City) are three of the nine capital cities the United States has had in its history. 3. While Gates is attempting to decipher the first clue on board the Charlotte, after Shaw suggests "Prison," Riley says, "Albuquerque. See, I can do it too. Snorkel." This is a reference to the 1998 'Weird Al' Yankovic song, "Albuquerque," which talks about a man's journey to Albuquerque with his lucky snorkel. Quotes: 1. Riley Poole: "All right! What I know is that daylight savings wasn't established until World War I. If it's 3 p.m. now that means that in 1776 it would be 2 p.m." Ben Gates: "Riley, you're a genius." 2. Ben Gates: [paraphrasing Thomas Edison, about invention of light bulb] "I didn't fail, I found 2,000 ways how not to make a light bulb; I only need to find one way to make it work." Anachronisms: 1. As the scaffolding is falling, we see nails popping out. These are clearly manufactured nails and not cut nails of the type used in the colonial period. Also, the nails are of a silver color, while nails of the colonial period would have a black iron color. 2. Ben, Abigail and Riley follow a clue from the engraving of Independence Hall on the $100 bill. Noting the time on the clock in the tower and following the shadow of the tower to a spot on a wall. In reality the original tower of Independence Hall that existed in 1776 had no clock, it was built only to hold a bell (i.e. the Liberty Bell.) What's more that tower became unstable and was removed in 1781 and was replaced by a simple peaked roof. The original clock on the building was built into the side of the building facing Congress Hall. The current tower with its clock wasn't built until 1828. Benjamin Franklin who was the focus of many of the clues died in 1790 so there's no way he could have used the tower clock in setting up the clues. This information comes from "Historic Landmarks of Philadelphia" by Roger W. Moss. 3. Until 1883, there were no standard time zones. Almost every locality used solar time to determine the correct time (noon was the time when the sun was directly overhead in each city, and this, of course, varied depending on the location of the city). Standard time zones were established when railroad schedules necessitated them. The only way they could have determined when 2:22PM occurred in the 1700s was to find out when the sun was directly overhead, and add two hours and twenty-two minutes to that time. 4. Throughout the movie, it is said the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th, 1776, when in fact, it was only adopted on that day. It was not actually engrossed on parchment, and signed until August 2nd, 1776. The copy that was signed on July 4th was a "rough journal" as it was called, and then only signed by John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress and Charles Thomson, the Secretary. 5. The first Trinity Church burned to the ground when the British set the Great Fire of New York in 1776. The church was not rebuilt until the late 1780s.

Trivia: While the film met with mixed reviews, Streep's performance was widely acclaimed, and considered to be one of the finest of her career. She received her 17th Academy Award nomination, and ultimately, the Academy Award for Best Actress, for her portrayal of Thatcher across four decades. Anachronisms: 1. In the '1980s' there is a shot from Westminster Bridge of the Houses of Parliament. In the right of the shot we see a National Express coach on Westminster Bridge in the livery of 2011. The coach brake also puts on its brake lights. Clearly shown are 'high level' brake stop lights which were not introduced on coaches until the late 1990s. 2. In the scene just before the car bombing assassination of MP Airey Neave in the parking garage (car park in British parlance), a CCTV camera is briefly visible. Cameras of such a design did not exist in 1979. It is clearly a 21st century design. Margaret Thatcher was nowhere near the Palace of Westminster when Airey Neave was assassinated by an INLA car bomb. 3. In her final year as Prime Minister (1990), Thatcher refers to the European Union. At that time it was known as the European Community (or, more formally, the EEC - European Economic Community). The European Community became the European Union in 1993 when all member countries ratified the Maastricht Treaty. 4. Rite Aid Bandages were not sold in the UK in the 1980's. However, Margaret Thatcher was traveling to the US and could have brought some back with her.

Trivia: 1. The film at times uses double voice-over narration, where the audience hears both Will's and Marcus's thoughts. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. 2. In Ali's room you can see a flag for the football (soccer) team Arsenal. Nick Hornby, author of the book on which the movie is based, is a die-hard Arsenal supporter. 3. In the novel, the music that Will introduces Marcus to - and so in turn bonds with Ellie over - is not rap, but the band Nirvana. The book is actually set during the 1993-1994 period, and the story climaxes with the kids learning of and being affected by Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain's 4/5/94 suicide (which within the context of the story has additional significance for Marcus). The title of the story is itself a pun on the Nirvana song "About A Girl".
